Who is the overall best player in the NBA this season?

LeBron was closing the gap last season, I think he may take the title away this year. CP3 is also on the verge of being #1.

Based on this year i'd say so far its Wade. He's doing it at both ends of the court and almost seems like he's trying to be a surrogate center in addition to everything else he does.
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

Kobe Bryant. He finally realized how to win with other stars...at least for 10 games. The triangle looks like the triangle now in LA. Thing of beauty and I hate the Lakers....and Kobe for that matter.

I'd say Wade but since the Heat aren't going to win a title, Kobe is more legitimate. But since Kobe plays on an allstart team, it's not that he's doing anything himself. So maybe LeBron? But then again he's probably not gonna win a title either but he's doing a great job. I'm running out of players...

So far it's Bron and Wade in terms of production thus far. Wade has 28.2 5.1 and 7.8 on 49% shooting from the field. He's really made a commitment on defense, averaging 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks so far as well as key assignments at the end of games such as Brandon Roy, etc. LeBron has 29.5 7.8 and 6.9 on 49% shooting from the field with 2.0 steals and .8 blocks. LeBron isn't as disruptive in terms of forcing turnovers but he's a better on-ball defender.

To me it's definitely Kobe. That Lakers team would be under .500 now without him, and he's playing the best defense of any guard in the entire league. The Lakers happen to be perfectly built with a lot of great role players, but Kobe is the reason they are absolutely massacring the entire league right now. I think Wade only plays highlight reel defense (i.e. gambling for steals and blocks) instead of trying to stay in front of his man... and come on now, LeBron hasn't played defense in his career and this season definitely isn't an exception.

I consider Wade to be in the Marcus Camby category of defenders -- great numbers, but teams are usually better off on that end of the floor without him (look at the Nuggets this year, even before the AI trade!).

I would have said Paul Pierce before the last two games, but right now I would say LeBrizzle.

LeBron's defense isn't that bad. Although he may not be first team defense great, he is still an above average defender.
