Because the Lakers didn't win homecourt advantage and the West last year without Bynum.

Let's all just agree the NBA is pretty dam competitive right now and it's awesome (not Bynum's injury, that sucks)

Maybe they can pull off another lop sided miracle and get Amare for
          Mihm.

I still think they will win the West.

LOL. Actually, you guys lost any toughness you had in the paint.

Now, you'll have to rely on the "bad boy" combination of Gasol, Mihm and Odom.

In fact, I'm taking back what I said. Spurs-Lakers WCF. Spurs in 5. Kobe quits early in the 4th quarter of Game 5.

Just like I said with the Spurs, people are way too quick to declare veteran teams done.

The regular season ends 10 weeks from tomorrow. The Lakers dominated the West without any Bynum, and they can win it again this year, especially since they should have him for the conference semis.

                  Cue more overreacting.
                  I second this.

Is this the same knee he injured last year?

If so that's going to be one balky knee, and the Lakers signed him to a big long-term deal.

What's worse though...That he has a serious injury to the same knee AGAIN, or that he has had a serious injury to each knee?

I question Bynum's ability to continue coming back from knee injuries like this. He's still only 21, but he has had to bulk up for his position; maybe his body isn't strong enough to handle the weight?

Even if he comes back at 8 weeks what is his effectiveness going to be?

Could be another crazy trade deadline.

Philly should trade Dalembert to LA, and get rid of his ridiculous contract.

It's the right knee this year. Last year it was the left. I really doubt if he can come back this year, even if the Lakers make a long run in the playoffs.

Yea...its really unfortunate. I have doubts on Bynum's effectiveness if he is able to come back in 8-12.

IMO they should just shut the young guy down, and let his knee completely heal w/o it getting any contact.

Make a deal for a bigman w/ more serviceability than Mihm, or Mbenga.

Trade for Dalembert...at least from a defense/rebounding standpoint he stands to help your team.

Yeah they definantly should shut him and not try to push him back. Especially after they just put big money into him this year. Don't want to take the chance of messing it up even more and putting his career in risk as far as being an all star type player. Back to back knee injuries for 7 footers is never a good thing.
