IMO they should just shut the young guy down, and let his knee completely heal w/o it getting any contact.

Make a deal for a bigman w/ more serviceability than Mihm, or Mbenga.

Trade for Dalembert...at least from a defense/rebounding standpoint he stands to help your team.

Laker fans know their front office doesn't play around with injuries. Last year Bynum was "supposed to be back by the playoffs" and we all know how that turned out.

If he's not close to 100% Andrew won't be playing.

That having been said, last year he popped his kneecap off. This is a level 2 MCL tear. No surgery, rehab in less than two weeks. There's a strong chance he'll recover. And it's not the same knee. Which is good in certain ways. Tell you what though, this boy's career is getting shorter by the day. I hope he has better luck when he returns.

Andrew Bynum has memorized some dates. He has looked at some calendars. And he has noticed some oddities. Jonathan Abrams of The New York Times:

On Monday, Bynum walked into the Garden using a black crutch, seemingly as more of a prop than a support. He is scheduled to return to Los Angeles on Tuesday and begin rehabilitation in about a week.

He smiled and said he was confident he would return before the end of the season, buoyed by the prospect that he would not need surgery this time.

"I've already come to grips with it," Bynum said. "It's pretty crazy with the similarities. It was Jan. 13 last year. It was Jan. 31 this year. On both nights, I had 27 points the game before. And both times against Memphis."

That's news to me. Thought it was worse. I feel better now.

I still like there chances although they will have to show a lot of growth. I think like someone above said Ariza gives them a boost they didn't have last year. In a 7 game series with Mamba on your squad anything can happen.

The perimeter wasnt the problem last year, but the inside was a HUGE problem. One they still have.

Ray Allen and PP beg to differ *I'm looking at you Sasha and Kobe and Fish and Space Cadet*

Ray Allen made Sasha cry, literally.

Good point, but my point still stands. Perimeter defense is just a big a question mark as interior. Last year the Lakers had to match Vlad on PP, Sash on Ray Ray..
