Re: Tyson Chandler Headed to Thunder

The Kings agreed on Wednesday to a trade that sends forward John Salmons and center Brad Miller to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for forwards Drew Gooden and Andres Nocioni, according to league sources that spoke with David Aldridge.

The deal will reduce Sacramento's obligations next season, saving the Kings millions on the salary cap and keeping them well under any potential luxury tax payments. Gooden, making $7.15 million this season, will likely come off the team's cap after this year, and now, the team is free of the $5.4 million due to Salmons in 2009 and the $12 million due to Miller in '09.

Miller played two-plus seasons in Chicago after being traded from Charlotte in 2000 before being dealt to Indiana in a trade that also sent Ron Artest to the Pacers in exchange for Jalen Rose.

Sacramento will absorb the remaining four years and $28.4 million on Nocioni's contract, but Nocioni's contract actually goes down after next season, when he's scheduled to make $7.5 million, to $6.8 million in 2010 and $6.6 million in 2011 before going back up to $7.5 million in the final season, which will be Sacramento's option.

Gooden and Simmons = almost $9 mil in expiring contracts.

For the Bulls, Miller and Salmons balance the roster. Since drafting Ben Gordon, the Bulls have always had size problem in the backcourt. With Rose/Salmons/Hinrich/Sefolosha as your rotation size problem solved. It also gives the Bulls a replacement for Ben Gordon, who is leaving after the year.

Miller is not the post presence the Bulls really wanted, but he is a guy defenses have to respect more than Noah or Gray. His mid-range shooting can create space, his passing can help shooters.

Well, I havent really seen Salmons play all season but it seems like he's having a good year (18.3/game compared to 8.3 career)...dont really know what to make of him.

Once again Brad Miller on the Bulls....7 years too late.

Yep, Brad Miller and Ron Artest traded for Jalen Rose is still ringing in my ears, I love the pickup of Johnny S, gives the Bulls that slasher that they needed. Honestly, I would've took darn near anything for gunning Noch though, let's see how this works.

Personally at first I didn't like the Bulls-Kings swap. But looking at it maybe it will work out. Another big man in Miller which comes off the books in 2010. Salmons is better all around over Nocioni and Nocioni's contract is bad. But the Bulls still need to make a move as the back court is even more flooded. BTW, Larry Hughes says hi Paxson. Move him.

Brad Miller has been half way out the door all season. Brad Miller wanted to win, the Kings on the otherhand.. No use in having a vet like him with the way the Kings are at this point.

I mean seriously, do anything with him, don't make the guy rot on the bench like that. How do you go from 25 MPG to street clothes that quickly? I'm still expecting something else from them before the deadline.

By complaining to the media everyday that you're not getting 40 MPG, chucking blindly, playing minimal defense and saying you'd rather have fun than win.

Lakers trade C Chris Mihm to the Grizzlies for a conditional 2nd round pick in 2013.

Makes sense for both teams I guess.

Lakers don't have to pay 5 million for Mihm, but the Lakers will probably never see that 2013 pick (worthless).

Mihm expires after this year, so it also frees up the Griz by getting a player and not having any obligations to him after this year.

I heard about that Hughes for Thomas and James proposition as well. Works out for both clubs as all three contracts come off the books in 2010.

And if Hinrich does get shipped, Bulls will need a back up PG even though James is more of a Gordon type player than a PG.
