    Re: 2010 Dunk Contest

Please NO more Howard. I prefer shorter guys with great leap. Personally I had enough of Howard, I don't think he can do anything more special than he'd already done, and I also think that last year he had better dunks than this year.
LBJ would be great, especially if he can be more creative. Wade is another great pick and I also want to see Ariza - yeah he isn't a fancy in-game dunker but I think he has some great quality and can surprise us all. Also, Iguadala. J-Rich isn't in his prime but I think he can still do it and I love his powerful dunks. Oh yeah, if Kobe can compete it will be amazing. Imagine KB vs LBJ vs D-Wade - what a contest!
And I wish there will be more than 4 dunkers, and also give them 2 tries for each dunk, I like it better this way because: 1) It's annoying to see someone trying again and again the same thing. 2) The nice thing about the contest is that you don't know what the guys are going to do next. After a guy tried 10 times the same dunk, even if it's an amazing one, when he finally makes it - it's kinda weak.

    CPU: Z80 @ 3.5 MHz
    GPU: Monochrome display
    RAM: 48 KB
    OS: Sinclair BASIC

I like that list too. I wouldn't mind Moon or Shannon Brown in there for some new faces instead of Jrich & Dwight.

Shannon Brown has to be in it. The guy is freakishly athletic. They were trying to test his vertical while he was in Charlotte, and he jumped so high the measuring device wasn't long enough to measure his jump. Heard that from Stephanie Ready who is a sideline reporter for the Bobcats.

                Re: 2010 Dunk Contest

I must say, I'm a little shocked about people underestimating Wade's dunking ability. Lebron said that the competition needs big names, and while Wade and Kobe aren't the best pure dunkers you could have in the competition, their presence in the competition would definitely bump it up a notch as far as excitement. Especially if they're competing against Lebron James.

I'd like to see Derrick Rose give it a go also. That man is freakishly athletic.

And just for the record, while Fernandez was no slouch in the competition, this man really should have been the fourth contestant:

Ugh - I thought I could go one night w/o an idiotic comment from Jalen Rose but then I watch that video...

If LBJ is able to convice all of the contestants to stop all of the props and crud and actually freestyle a dunk, it'll be entertaining...VC actually ruined the dunk contest a few years back with his amazing show but at least he didn't use any props, nothing off the backboard or blowing off a freakin' cupcake; it was just jump-freestyle-dunk

I understand that some of you guys' choices definitely have the hops and ability to pull off some nice dunks. But, I was just kinda going off of what Lebron said about bringing in some big names.

The guys I chose I feel are the most athletic for their popularity. There are plenty of other guys that could be in the contest in terms of pure leaping ability. But, they rarely play and not many common fans know of them.

The casual fan wouldn't really be excited about the dunk contest with people they don't even know.

Obviously casual fans go in for name recognition... actually, I think casual fans will watch no matter what, just if they want to see great dunks. But if there is one marketing angle, it would be to play up big names.

However, that's why you need more contestants. The no-namers are more likely to pull out all the stops, do something no one's ever seen, and try to upset the All-Stars. The All-Stars are more likely to do straight up dunks and reap high scores because they're All-Stars (Dwight Howard's first dunk this year comes to mind). People want to see them, but we have no reason to believe that they'll do anything novel. And if James does it next year and nothing else changes (meaning there are 4 contestants), does anyone think that he will not win it?

So the fans can get excited for one or two stars, but I would rather see no-namers who have more hops and nothing to lose. Come for the Lebron James, stay for the James White, or something to that extent.

Nate scared of The King... Nate prolly heard that James White is gonna be signed soon as well.. he's already tappin out LOL

Knicks guard Nate Robinson said in an interview on ESPN Radio New York with Michael Kay recently that he isn't likely to defend his Slam Dunk title next season.

"I'll probably retire. I've been it in four times," Robinson told Kay.

Man I don't know if I want to see James White in the dunk contest. I'm a big fan of his and have been since he was in high school but he hasn't done anything new in EIGHT years. Yes they are great dunks and all but he has been doing the same dunks in EVERY dunk contest he has been in since high school. He really needs to expand his dunks. I'm sure he is capable of doing other things but he keeps doing the same dunks over and over again. If he gets in a does the same free throw dunks for every dunk it won't be nothing new to see. I want to see guys pull out the stuff that we HAVEN'T seen on the NBA level like between the leg 360's,540's,behind the back 360's, and others.
