That's my issue. Dudes always have to be in the spotlight. If you're not going to follow through with it then don't say anything to begin with

Re: 2010 Dunk Contest
You don't steal the spotlight [last year] and announce that you're going to "bring the stars back to the contest" by entering.. only to get cold feet when the time comes to put your money where your mouth is.

Come on, LeBron. He's been waffling on entering the dunk contest for years. If you come out and say your going to do it, just do it (no pun).Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

It'll be a letdown if he doesn't join now since a lot of fans were expecting him to be in it this year. He at the very least should join even if he can't get other guys to join him.
That pretty much take away any hope of getting any big name guys into the event. And going back into what LeBron said in this interview he said it should be about the dunks and not side show stuff. If you look at the clips of those street guys that are suppose to be going to the dunk contest they are doing the same dunk over somebody head dunks that we have seen over and over and over again. If I wanted to see those guys dunk I will watch city slam or something like that. I truly believe if that would have never came up with that sreet guys idea and LeBron could have talked some of the other stars into the contest we would have at least had the most watched and talked about dunk contest in history.
There is a big difference to guys like LeBron, Kobe and others losing to each other than losing to some no name guy off the street. Thier line of thinking is probably along the lines off these guys aren't going to use me to make them famous. Thier ego is FAR too large to let something like that happen.Comment

Re: 2010 Dunk Contest
Sprite and NBA did a dunk contest at nba.com/dunk where they traveled to different cities and had streetballers participate... it's unclear if they're going to be in the same field as the NBA stars, but I believe that they will not. It sounded like they'll participate during the Friday night with the celebrity game, then the NBA stars will participate at Saturday night with the winning streetball dunker being a judge or something.
That's how I understood it.
Hopefully that's how it goes and LeBron gets in the dunk contest.Originally posted by bradtxmaleI like 6 inches. Its not too thin and not too thick. You get the support your body needs.

Re: 2010 Dunk Contest
I believe only one amateur is going to be able to get into the competition, is that incorrect?
I believe there are four finalists who have been selected to compete for one spot to get in.Comment

Re: 2010 Dunk Contest
Come on Dre, the fact is LBJ could easily make it "legit" if he would simply participate like he said he would. If he backs out I will be disappointed as a fan.
Spare me the corporate talk. Every professional sport has the corporate dynamic to it.
That isn't preventing anyone from competing.
The fact is LBJ said he would do something and now he's wavering. Spare me the "streetballer" talk because it's not as if there's going to be 5 non-NBA players out there. Only one if I'm understanding it correctly.Comment

Re: 2010 Dunk Contest
I dont know what youre talking about but the dunk contest has been dead.
With the exception of J-Rich the contest has been a snorefest. Dont lay this on LeBrons shoulders. Yes its his corporatespeak because he's basically sowing the seed when he decides not to enter.
I dont care if he's in or not. No he shouldn't have spoke up a year early but I understand why he did. Just probably forgot they change something about the contest every year. Streetballers dont belong period.Comment

Re: 2010 Dunk Contest
I'm not laying past failures of the dunk contest on James. I'm not sure where you're getting that from. I'm not putting anything on his shoulders, I'm simply holding him to what he said last year.
I don't really care about the past. I'm talking about the future.
James could easily make the contest much "better" than it's been in years. Yet he is now backing out it seems.
One streetballer is not reason enough for James to sit out. Dumb rules aren't reason enough to not play.Comment

Re: 2010 Dunk Contest
I guess it comes down to the fact that I just dont care because the truth is, one man cant save it just like one man didnt bring it down
LeBron's not the flashiest dunker in the world in a contest anyway, and he's not going to persuade Wade or Kobe or J Rich or any of those guys to come back to a contest the NBA has screwed up over the years.Comment
