Re: Iverson to Bobcats in 2009-2010?

The franchise is commited to Augustine, and Iverson needs a big, pass-first PG who can defend a SG...but he'll be a hot commodity because he'd still put fans in the seats.

That team is young, though...do you really want Iverson's team-second attitude to define your club? I don't think LB would appreciate that grenade being tossed into the locker room for a guy with diminished skills.

NY would be a great fit for AI if they weren't saving cash for 2010.

Charlotte is having problems filling seats. In that respect, it will help.

For the product on the court, I think it would be a bad move. This Bobcat team has come together very quietly. If not for the horrific start & the down turn when Wallace got taken out by Bynum, this team would be in playoff position. Iverson isn't a piece to the puzzle. All other pieces must connect to him.

It's a good fit because that team doesn't have a No. 1 scorer. I don't see any other team that he could go to that would make sense.

the bobcats have a nice nucleus now. they need more time to gel. putting in a player who is only effective if he has a green light to dominate the ball and the offense will only hinder their progress.
i think the bobcats are close to being a really good team. the makeup is there.
what they need is a low post scorer, and more experience together.
they already have a superior slashing talent [wallace], solid defending role players [okafor, bell] and versatility [diaw].
if felton can get more consistency and continue to develop his pg instincts, and if augustin takes another step, [which he surely will] there will be no need for iverson.

really, i cant think of any team in the league that iverson would fit.
esspecially now he has basically said he will retire before being a 6th man.
in reality if he wants to win a championship so desperately like he claims..
he has to take a 6th man role on a contending team.
            oh the irony.
Very good points. After posting this yesterday, I was kind of leaning toward this myself. Right now the Bobcats have great chemistry, and if AI came on board who knows how it would end up. They need to get rid of Diop, that man is a disgrace (sorry) he couldn't catch a cold in a Kindergarten Class, and his shooting is just as bad. They need a big man in the worse way, but DJ is on the cusp of being an all-star, he is quietly becoming one of the better shooters in the league.

I think he'd be a good fit. Bobcats are a really solid team to begin with...I'm surprised they haven't won more games.

Probably could use some respect from the refs.

Iverson is not wanted back here. And if you used your noggin, you would know he doesn't fit here. We already have a team full of players that need the ball in their hands in order to be effective, hence the half court offense sucks.
AI would make that situation better? No.

Iverson cannot start for a championship contending team.

Maybe the Spurs, but that's just because Pop can do damn near anything if he has Timmy.

Yeah even though you haven't posted in the thread yet, and I didn't even know you were still a registered, active user at OS.

I said he should go back to Philly just because he's my favorite player of all-time and I loved watching him play there.

                            Yeah, I could see that.

He doesn't fit in Charlotte. He may have been good with Larry Brown, but I seriously doubt Larry would want him back. He isn't the same player he was in Philly.

That might be a good thing, if you think about it. Coming to a squad with a team-first mentality where everyone passes the ball on offense, and everyone gives max effort on defense, AI's workload would become smaller while still having the oppurtunity to play significant minutes.

The only problem is...would AI fit in?

If he would be willing to commit to the Spurs philosophy, it would work tremendously, but I don't' know if AI can do it. All this talk about how he'd rather retire then come off the bench...doesn't really sound like a team player.

However, a SG tandem of Manu and AI is bonkers. AI and Parker is...wow.
