It is seen as a problem that AI isn't the same player he was, but I say that it could be a blessing in that since his game is different, all he cares about at this point is playing quality minutes. If he's playing for a good team, he can contribute, play quality minutes....but wouldn't have to carry the team at almost 34 years old.

Is he willing to put the team ahead of getting his? Is he willing to play hard nosed defense? Is he willing to not put up a lot of shots?
If he is, then it would be a fantastic fit.Too Old To Game Club

Re: Iverson to Bobcats in 2009-2010?
That's what I mean. At this point in his career, he may not be as concerned with the numbers as he is with playing time. In DET he's not saying "I need more shots" he says "I need more minutes".
I think he would be willing to do those things you mentioned if he means he'll play a good amount of minutes and play for a good team. I know the Bobcats won't be title contenders for a while, but if IMO, his one of his best possible destinations is Charlotte.-Jay Illestrate, Emcee/Producer/Graphic Artist

At this point, I don't see AI as much more than a 25 MPG player. He could come in and provide quick offensive pick-me-up, but he needs to put team ahead of AI. That means no complaining of minutes, no matter how many he plays.Too Old To Game Club

Re: Iverson to Bobcats in 2009-2010?
I can't see him starting in Charlotte. Like others have said, everything has to be connected to him for it to work successfully. And DJ Augustin is quietly turning into one of the league's top shooters and has been playing really well as a rookie so why stunt his growth just for the sake of a reunion?#RespectTheCultureComment

Lemme rephrase the first sentence. Iverson CAN start in Charlotte but me personally don't see why they would make that move in the first place unless they're looking to just put butts in the seats.#RespectTheCultureComment

And yet, for whatever reason, people expect AI to change all of a sudden. Dude is 34. He's no going to change. In this situation, it is truly the "tiger never changes its stripes" deal. AI will never change for anybody. He is what he is and everyone else has to accept it.Last edited by P2K; 04-02-2009, 08:20 PM.Comment

Iverson needs something like this. I am not that big of a fan, but I am sick of him making the all-star game and not being good. I hope he can actually play like an all-star and help some young guys play good in a place like Charlotte.Comment

Re: Iverson to Bobcats in 2009-2010?
if your a bobcats fan...you shouldnt wish for this.
a.i will stunt the growth of felton [if he is still around] and more importantly, augustin.
the bobcats have a nice nucleus now. they need more time to gel. putting in a player who is only effective if he has a green light to dominate the ball and the offense will only hinder their progress.
i think the bobcats are close to being a really good team. the makeup is there.
what they need is a low post scorer, and more experience together.
they already have a superior slashing talent [wallace], solid defending role players [okafor, bell] and versatility [diaw].
if felton can get more consistency and continue to develop his pg instincts, and if augustin takes another step, [which he surely will] there will be no need for iverson.
really, i cant think of any team in the league that iverson would fit.
esspecially now he has basically said he will retire before being a 6th man.
in reality if he wants to win a championship so desperately like he claims..
he has to take a 6th man role on a contending team.
oh the irony.
He could even play for the Heat at the PG position if he and Wade could share the ball with wade. (problem here is that they are a young aspiring team like the Bobcats & they probably wouldn't want to maess up their continuity)Comment

Re: Iverson to Bobcats in 2009-2010?
Heard Broussard say that there is no market for AI, and there is a realistic chance that he might just retire vs be a roleplayer somwhere. If true, wow. Considering the skillz he still has, I find that very sad.
Hard to believe that The Answer can't find one NBA team that he can "fit" on. I wonder if he ever really reflects on what that says about his ego and his game.Hank's Custom Collectibles 3D printer/painter extraordinaireComment
