I mean I personally have NO REASON to dislike any of those dudes. I don't dislike any player. They never did ANYTHING to me. Why am I disliking someone that I don't have any personal attachment to? I never understood the idea of hating famous people.Concrete evidence/videos pleaseComment

I will never forget that Walton quote (AB give me a scouting report on him). I have used it many times and had to keep it as an away message on AIM throughout College because people were hatin on my man Big Kobe. Just don't understand how people that call themselves basketball fans can hate another dude so much that it causes them to lie to themselves how valuable he is.
The KB hate is unrivaled. I'm suprised OS's #1 KB ***** hasn't surfaced yet.Comment

Re: The Best 'High Schooler' ever to play in the NBA?
...My uh "hate" for Kobe mostly stems from his entry into the league, his little Denver escapade, and that I generally think he's just an arrogant dude... but whatever. Regardless I voted for him here because I agree, you can't deny his skills.
...But you know what's funny though. I wanted to do my due diligence in researching Kobe's career numbers. I haven't found a site that shows all-time numbers/avg's filtered by position, but what's interesting is that the only category that Kobe ranks top10 in all-time is points per gm.
Where he sits just at #10. Meanwhile Allen Iverson is 5th all time in ppg, and sits MUCH higher above Kobe in total steals/assists albeit w/ AI having played in 62 LESS games. AIs on the decline and is 3 yrs older, and although Kobe is high on the mileage in part to his Team USA committments he can overtake Ivy in those career totals. Still though it would seem that Iverson was the more multi-faceted player going by just raw numbers.
I guess my point though is that I was surprised to NOT see Kobe higher on the foodchain. Even when it comes to career FG% there's 3 other guards listed out of the top250 all time (Tony P, Nash, and Wade). Kobe slashes just as much as those guys right. Probably takes more mid-range shots too that draws his FG% down, but I thought he would've at least been as high or higher than Nash. He also stands at 66 all-time in FT% @ 84%. Respectable. However, there's a littany of other 2's w/ higher career avg's in APGs and SPGs.
I'm not trying to discredit Kobe's clout in the NBA lifetime landscape, but much can be said about his hype over-reaching his place amongst the all-time greats.
For all the Jordan comparisons he'll never ever stack up to Jordan, and I think that Lebron is better than him now and better than Kobe when Kobe was Lebron's current age. But I can't give anything to Lebron because he still needs to work on his resume, and health will factor into that to determine if he stacks up career-wise.
Still though...Kobe's abilities as a "killer" in crunch time is everything that determines greatness...just how much? That uncanny ability to take over a close game against an equally formiddable team is what seperates him from the other premiere players.
One thing I never quite understood about him though is why he chooses to take himself out of the loop. I get the concept of getting others involved yadda yadda yadda, but it often times seems forced to me. For what? The sake of making Jordan comparisons? Jordan did things w/o having to deviate from his will and desire to score. He was a better playmaker than Kobe is. Much like how Lebron is now.
For the current I think Kobe is the pick here, but Lebron is gaining ground and all that stands in his way is whether or not he can stay healthy and have as much longevity.Last edited by JBH3; 10-14-2009, 12:08 PM.Originally posted by Edmund BurkeAll that is needed for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing.Comment

How would Kobe fared if he and Moses swapped. I think Kobe would been average in Moses era while Moses would have been the same if not better...Comment

He listed his rings as one of many accomplishments. How many MVP's, 1st team all NBA's and ASG's does Horry have? Taking one line, bolding it, and making an asinine comparison doesn't make much of a point.
I like how any time someone mentions rings as a good thing, regardless of context, someone chimes in with the inevitable Robert Horry comment.Comment
