That's exactly it, Parker is looking his age. West provides the energy this team misses with their secondary squad.

That's like saying House doesn't mean a damn thing to Boston. All these players contribute in their own way. Cleveland lost their huge lead later on in the game, when their starters lost that punch.

Right now, CLE needs the energy Delonte can bring. Don't get me wrong, I don't think he's that great of a player. But is he an important piece of the puzzle in CLE? I believe so.

I realize that you agree with the premise of the thread..

My point was that with Shaq, West in there 100% healthy doesn't make a difference. Not in those two games, and at this point I believe West wouldn't make a difference in the long run.

Just doesn't look smooth out there.

You can't compare this to Eddie House because Boston didn't add someone who has completely changed their chemistry.

Ha, well then I guess the thread has sort of split.

I do think Shaq might hurt Cleveland's chances overall... but I did read some proclaiming doom and gloom when Cleveland doesn't even have a part of their puzzle playing.

But most certainly West and House are comparable. I don't agree with your statement at all. They fill a role that both teams sorely need in their secondary units, whether it be energy, offense, whatever. This used to be Gibson's role but he has since fallen off tremendously.

Another thing, not to make it a bash fest of former Raptor players, but Moon has to stop spotting up for 3's and move and cut when Shaq has the ball. He is too poor of a shooter and too good of an athlete to be parked on the perimeter...

It's good to see Cleveland handling business and blowing out a team they were supposed to blow out [Love out, AL is still recovering, rookie PG, and all around they have a crappy roster]. I dare someone to name 6 Twolves outside of AL and Love.. GO!

Shaq was acquired for crap.....so I don't understand why people act like this is some big trade. It really only meant that instead of Ben Wallace on the court the team now has Shaq.

The biggest issue this year is if Mike Brown and the Cavs front office can be content to play Shaq limited minutes. This team is clearly better with Z on the court. But the reason you get Shaq is for matchups against Orlando and Boston. He can beat up on Garnett and Howard. Use his 6 fouls....again no different than Ben Wallace.

This season hinges on the emergence of JJ Hickson or Leon Powe. The cavs need a big that can guard shooting big men. Shaq wasn't brought in here to do that.

My bet is Lebron plays a lot at the 4 and Parker and Moon play a lot more minutes if Delonte can't get his life together.

The difference is Ben Wallace could be benched or played as a backup and it wouldn't effect anything.

With Shaq in town, he has to be getting burn and he has to be heavily involved. Shaq might or might not work out with what Cleveland already has. I buy into the notion that Shaq might actually ruin the team... we've already seen it once.

I'm going to sya it day one...Shaq and the Cavs aren't going to win it all this season.

I was against the trade when it happened and took some heat here for the Cavs offseason...

But man, the big fella just cannot...100% cannot...defend the pick and roll at all anymore.

He's worse than the 2K10 CPU pick and roll defense before sliders...

The good teams are just going to abuse him this season.

The Cavs should have added an athletic big who can defend the pick and roll. Shaq doesn't need a double team anymore...so he's not going to add a lot on offense anyway. Not close enough to negate his effect on defense.

He'll get the odd flashback 25 and 12 type night v Memphis and the Knicks...he'll get tonnes of monster dunks and the crowd on their feet...

But that's all he's getting.

Bad move by the Cavs. Their identity has been hard core D...that's not going to happen when Shaq's there.

Drag this thread up and post pics of him and LBJ with rings in a year...but I doubt it.

Shaq's defense is interior defense. He can neutralize any big in the league as well as keep them off the boards. This at 37... so I don't know why people act like his D sucks. He's psychologically dominating and a huge body. He's faced KG, Bosh, Chandler and Big Al and done well against all of them when he was on the floor. I blame him for Barg going off, though.

Let's just get this out there: IF THE CAVS DON'T WIN IT, IT'S NOT ALL SHAQ'S FAULT. Unless you are willing to concede that if they do it's all because of him...

I don't think it's going to be Shaq's fault when they don't win it all, I think it's going to be the front office's fault for bringing Shaq in instead of bringing in an athletic 4 to neutralize guys like Rashard Lewis. Even if Leon Powe is the man for that, that would mean you'd have to give Powe starter's minutes, and I'm not sure that's really helping your team by having him in there for 30+ minutes.

Hmm. First off, I don't think many teams have a player who matches up with Rashard. That's why he has a huge contract. Secondly, I don't see why people keep mentioning his name. It's not like he had an amazing series. If anyone went ape, it was Dwight.

I'm not saying I'm more insightful than the sports analyst world, but it's funny how people take an idea and run with it. Those ideas being: Shaq can't defend the Pick and Roll, therefore Cavs got worse. That's asinine. Having Z come off the bench + Shaq's impact is way larger than that.

Secondly, the one great team in the league that has a player the Cavs (or no one else, for that matter) can't match up with is Orlando. They won last year, so people think they will automatically do it again. I promise you that even though Rashard is a stud, the fact that there is no help needed on Dwight will automatically change the Magic's 3 point shooting (which is what, along with Dwight's domination, beat the Cavs last year. Also, BARELY beat them.)

We'll see what happens, though. I'm sticking to my story until I'm proven wrong, and I won't be proven wrong until the Cavs get knocked out of the playoffs either before they face Orlando or by Orlando.

1- Shaq is the worst pick and roll defender in the league whether you like it or not.

2- Shaq cannot guard Dwight Howard one on one and completely shut him down.
