    Re: Allen Iverson RETIRING

Over / under 500 replies for this thread?

AI sure does get some divided opinions about him. Def a love/hate kinda dude by the looks of it.

So would Kobe do that? Tmac? would any superstar player want to come off the bench for a team that had the 2nd pick in the draft this year(which means they suck). You must think that all superstar players are selfish then if you think that.

the crazy thing is that all his teammates love him. you'll never have a better teammate than him.

          Re: Allen Iverson RETIRING

Sad day if the retirement lasts.

I don't care what anyone says, Iverson is one of the best players the NBA has ever seen and I'm sure would still be a threat right now.

It's pretty funny that people are hating on him so much, given that there are so many more players that have treated coaches, teammates, media and the NBA in general with a hell of a lot less respect and have barely been mentioned in comparison to AI.

I've followed the NBA for 20 years and have seen some of the greatest players, moments and seasons and to me, AI ranks right up there.

His attitude and personality wasn't perfect, but he was certainly targeted and never once given a proper chance, let alone a second chance.

He took a bunch of scrubs to the finals in an MVP season and got quite a few of them big pay days with contracts they didn't half deserve. He put up so much crap in Philly while Billy King continued to fail to get him any real help and ruin those chances by spending big money on below average players. Yet AI continued to fight and match it with the best.

You only have to watch footage of him with his family, with friends and respectful teammates during USA and All Star teams to know the true AI.

In a time when I am questioning how the NBA has fallen so low in terms of the scarce real talent, the focus and crowning of players as great after a few good games, the refs often deciding games with either bias or corruption and the total lack of respect and acknowledgement of the past great players by not only younger fans but much of the league, the way Iverson has been outcast and treated really shouldn't surprise me.

          Yet it still does.

AI is more valuable than 90% of guards in this league but no one wants him?

Kobe doesn't have to. He's still one of the top 2 players in the league. Would he, in the future? How the hell should I know?

Who knows about T-Mac either? Neither one has been put in that position yet (though T-Mac will soon).

Great, unselfish players are willing to become role players at the end of their careers. Look at how Shaq, one of the biggest superstars in the league, went to Cleveland to help LeBron win a title. He accepts that he's no longer the star and he's willing to play a role.

Somehow that makes AI selfish, you act as if Cleveland had come calling AI would still want to be the star of course not he knows who is number 1 and so does Shaq.

Like I said its funny how all the AI haters have nothing to back up their reasons for hating him.

Long how have you been living under your rock? The kid chose retirement over changing his game to try and win a ring. Why? Because he used to tear up teams how many years ago? If that isn't selfishness, then I don't know what is.

Good example. Shaq went to Miami to play sidekick to Wade. All they did was win a title.

Win a ring with who? the Memphis Grizzles? the New York Knicks? Like i said before if a contending team offered anything to AI you would see his but suiting up and playing every night but no CONTENDING team did that so this is what happened.

A second chance!? Detroit and Memphis didn't give him a second chance to redeem himself? Stop with your love with this guy man.

I answered your question. My answer is how the hell should I know? I'm not a mind reader.

OJ Mayo is a better player than A.I. right now, anyways. That's why A.I. was supposed to come off the bench. He was supposed to be a mentor and provide a spark off the bench. Instead he insisted on taking minutes from a young, promising kid.

A.I. isn't a star anymore other than in name.

You know why a contending team didn't offer him a penny? Because he wasn't willing to adapt to the game TODAY. THAT'S why. He brought all of this on himself.

He didn't have to retire. All he had to do was prove that he was willing to do anything to win a ring. I'm 99.9% sure that Celtics, Spurs, Magic ect ect would be all over this guy if he just changed his game. Have fun being ringless, loser. The Answer my ***.
