Oden is an official bust...I openly admit it now. Not only a fracture but a break in the kneecap. That's career ending.

    Durant wins

Don't know what kind of delusion you were living, man. No offense. But seriously, Durant won on draft day. A great, great number of the sports media and sports fanbase knew that Durant was going to be a better player.

I must've missed the media saying Durant would be better in between the 80 billion "experts" saying Oden was going to be the next Russell or Ewing.
As Shaquille O'Neal left the Suns practice court, he yelled out, "Alvin's the coach. We must be the Clippers. And I must be Olowokandi. Nooooo!"

He is also the active leader in offensive rebounding percentage and is 6th all time.

I don't see how you can make a strong case for him being the best when Haywood actually leads the league in offensive rebounding and has the higher number per 40 mins. Also it's not like he is Haywood is playing for the Suns or Warriors or something. The Wiz are right at the league average for pace. He is also not the only player who has a higher number. He is one of the best but he is not the best. And he without a doubt can't be far and away the best cause he doesn't lead the league in any category.

You can talk about pace all you want but don't you believe Oden couldn't play at a faster pace and be as good do you?? He also couldn't play the major minutes that the other guys play. Simply because he would have fouled out or been gassed. Oden has had problems keeping up with the faster teams in the league and has had stamina issues. He wouldn't rebound at that rate playing for a team like the Suns cause he wouldn't be able to keep up.

Oden has only played 30 or more minutes twice this year and only 9 times last year. He simply fouls too much and can't keep up for that long a period of time. When he is tired is when he makes more of those stupid fouls that take him out of the game. He has had at least 5 fouls in over half his games this season and averages over 6 fouls a game per 36 mins.

So again he wouldn't be able to put up those numbers he averages over 36 or 40 minutes cause he simply wouldn't be on the court that long either from fouling out or simply being too gassed. So I will always give the edge to the players who actually put up those numbers playing those major minutes than somebody who doesn't play those kind of minutes and just average those kind of numbers if you average thier numbers out to that amount of time.
The thing is Oden has (or had) a high offensive rebound rate, a high defensive rebound, AND a ridiculously high block rate. The fact that you have to throw out multiple names is reason enough to indicate he was becoming a force. Not to mention he does average 11 points in 24 minutes to go along with this defensive numbers.

I'm not a huge Oden fan myself (I hate all things Ohio St.), but I hate to see potentially great players go down. I've watched alot of Blazers games this year and the guy was on his way. Tough setback.
"Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."

Not really if you think that way you dont know the game of basketball. Picking a center over a player that is in between positions and underweight should not have been a question. If Oden did not get injured there is no way you take Durant over Oden. Truth be told he got into injuries...Now his career is probably over. I have no doubt that Oden was a bust and Durant is a pretty good player...That's not even a question to me. But to say that Durant was the favorite over Oden on draft day is a complete fabrication that people make up to look smarter than they really are.
I dont even feel for Oden at this point...He has just been a distraction.

LOL if you think that way then you must not know about the game of Basketball. Even if Oden never got injured he wouldnt have been the better pick. Durant was a STAR and it was pretty obvious from the beginning.

Durant was a skinny yes but he absolutely dominated the College scene in his one year. That is why you dont draft centers number 1 ever it is to much of a risk to and more than half of them dont amount to **** anyway.

If Portland were thinking with their heads that day then maybe we would have seen Roy, Durant, and Aldridge on the same team.

Ummmm Roy and Durant together? As opposed to a true center?

Well I guess all 30 teams in the NBA would of disagreed with your analysis, because if you had any knowledge what was going on that night...Every single team had Oden #1 on their charts. Do some research before you blabber on forums claiming that you knew Oden was a bust from the get go.

What's done is done...But dont say you knew it from the get go that's a lie. Hell the only major injury the guy had was a freakin wrist injury...So you cant go on to say "Ohh yeah I knew he was going to be a bust man!" Makes no sense...

Man i feel really bad for this guy. he was actually starting to show his tru potential and the reason why he was drafted number 1. ya was out so early in his rookie year then finally started some intense training in the off season this year and got into top shapre and producing in the games all just to see him out for the season again. This guy has no luck at all

Sorry, but it was obvious. Really obvious. Blatantly obvious. Especially with all the Dwayne Wade rules...crystal clear. If you understand the game, though...it is obvious.
