It's Evan Turner and that's it. Turner will be the pick. As soon as the Sixers got lucky to get the #2 pick, it was Turner.

More athletic so he could guard some of the quicker 4's in the league, a better defender and a good but not great post game that could get better. At least thats what i see anyway.

I'm sure Cousins will be great on the block but i think Favors can do more things in the long run. Just my view of things. Won't complain if either one lands in NJ which is what it looks even if Philly brainfarts and passes on Turner.

It better be Turner or else I am going to the Wachovia Center and slapping Ed Stafanski and giving up on this team.

            Re: 2010 NBA Draft Thread.

I'm not sold on Philly drafting Turner with the #2 pick. He's never going to be an outstanding long-range shooter unless he changes his shooting motion. Not sure he's a good fit with Iguodala on the wing because neither one is a true deep threat (Iggy shot 31% from three point land last year). They have Jrue Holiday as their point guard of the future. They also traded for Jodie Meeks last season. Plus, Thaddeus Young put up 13 and 5 last year as a combo forward - IMO he's a better fit on the wing. Unless Philly plans on using Turner as a point-forward type I think they should take a chance on Favors/Cousins, especially given their lack of depth in the post. Turner may be the #2 prospect in the draft, but it would not shock me if they pass over him and/or draft Turner and then trade him to Minnesota at #4 for Cousins and some combination of players/draft picks....this makes sense because Minnesota needs perimeter help more than Philly and is set with Jefferson/Love down low.

So, they won't take Turner because they have Jodie Meeks?

Plus, they have Brand, Speights, Jason Smith and Dalembert. Where does Cousins/Favors fit? Neither is the center they are looking for to eventually replace Emo-bert.

Sixers need a 2. Turner is that potential star 2 guard. That's who they will draft.

Frankly, I think Jordan Crawford from Xavier is going to be a stud in the NBA. Just something about his game that screams it to me.

                    Re: 2010 NBA Draft Thread.

Going into the lottery, my thinking was that the Sixers were probably going to be 6th or 7th and that there wasn't really anybody I really liked that wouldn't be available later in the draft. I thought hey if they could trade down and get rid of a bad contract or two, I would do it. The guys I thought could complement the Sixers well due to my impression that Holiday and Iguodala aren't great shooters ( Holiday actually shot 39% from 3 this year and made 62), I thought a guy like Xavier Henry or James Anderson would be a good fit.

Now that the Sixers have the second pick, I still have my questions on Turner jumpshot and whether the Sixers could get proper court spacing with a Holiday/ Turner/ Iggy trio but I want to give it a shot first and see.

The other interesting thing is that the Sixers basically have two guys( Kapono and Dalembert) who will have expiring contracts going into next summer totaling somewhere in the 16 to 18 million range. Dalembert is a big that can run the floor, block shots and rebounds. Kapono is a knock down shooter who could complement a team well. I think it will be interesting to see how the Sixers utilize their options.

Hey now don't hate on my Kentucky boy!

I will admit, I forgot about Speights. Brand....eh. Kind of washed up. But they are paying him so much money. Have heard rumors they might trade him straight up to Washington for Arenas.

My thinking is that Young is the '3' and Iggy is the '2.' They could play Turner at the point, but then you don't have many shooters on the floor.

Here's my opinion on Turner: A great college player, but ceiling wise, you're talking Brandon Roy best case scenario. Cousins/Favors have a much higher ceiling. A lot of people are down on Favors but he played for one of the worst coaches in America, Paul Hewitt. I watched 3-4 G. Tech games this past season and they had no game plan to get him the ball. Plus, their guards were terrible. Now...he could be the next Stromile Swift. But I think he could also be a Chris Webber clone in the right situation.

Obviously, I watched Cousins play every game last year. If he keeps his weight down, he could become a poor man's Shaq. He's an ox down low. A possible 22 point, 11 rebound man every single night. Of course, he has the maturity of a 12 year old.....could be Eddy Curry Part II.

Turner is the safe pick. But it wouldn't shock me if Philly took a chance on Cousins or Favors.

It would shock me and I like Cousins (pause). Brandon Roy as a best case scenario is pretty good. Turner is the safe & logical pick.

Toronto beat writers are now saying that the Raptors will definitely take a big.

If that is the case I want Cole Aldrich. No project big men, or Euro big man. I want a guy who can come in and board and score in the low block.

I'd still prefer a defensive guard who can hit the three like Bradley or Bledsoe.

Brand may not be Brand of old, but he is still good. Eddie Jordan hated him and Brand hated him back. But when he played, he was good.

Young is a 3 that can play the 4 sometimes.

Iguodala is a 3 and strictly a 3. He has no business playing the 2.

Holiday is the starting point. Hands down. And he can shoot.

                                What's wrong with Brandon Roy?

I'd be shocked if Cousins approaches "22 points, 11 rebound man every single night" but even if he did, that's a stretch to call him a poor man's Shaq. Must not remember what Shaq was dropping every night when he first came out of college.
