Endorsements.....does LeBron not already have a ****load of those, in Cleveland no less? I don't see how that's a factor.
It may not be a huge factor, but when LeBron is in the mecca of basketball (NYC) or Chicago, there will be a larger following and more money involved.

Legacy.....his legacy would be worse if he was known as the guy that basically killed Cleveland basketball.
Cleveland basketball was never alive. He's much better suited winning championships with teams that have the ability to build around him than sitting around in Cleveland waiting for whoever their new GM is to revamp the franchise with very difficult trades and salary cap moves.

And I don't know what you mean by career longevity.
The more time he spends in Cleveland carrying his team, the shorter his career is going to be. If he doesn't have to drop 30, 9 and 8 every night to win games, that means his back, knees, elbows and ankles are going to last longer.

It also means he will be on TV more, as his team likely won't keep getting bounced out of the playoffs before the NBA Finals

Seriously though, I can see some guys being willing to go to New York, I just think the Knicks have to come harder than what they can possibly do next year. We're acting like players are just going to say **** it and sign with New York without a second thought next year if they get LeBron. Did anyone hear Mike and Mike this morning with Lon Babby (NBA Agent who represents players such as Ray Allen, Tim Duncan, Grant Hill, etc.) he mentioned the Knicks rolling out they're busload of celebrities and big names and fancy video packages in their presentation for Grant Hill or Tim Duncan I believe when they were free agents. They had the space for them and they didn't land them. So it's not a lock that just cause they'll have space next year that people will go there. I'm sure they won't be the only team with cap space next year.

Seems to me Knicks Management is more concerned with "that billboard" being built across the street from MSG than they are with bringing people in. But if using Celebrities is their best and only advantage they can use, then good luck with that LOL.

Again, this isn't really a big deal like some people make it out to be. For someone like Joe Johnson, Amare Stoudemire or Chris Bosh, sure. Not for LeBron. He already has a Nike deal that is (I'm pretty sure) over $100 mil.

"Cleveland basketball was never alive". What?

And this current Cavs team hasn't been built around him?

Ok, I can somewhat agree with the first part but do you not see which team is pretty much always on TNT? The Cavs are one of the most common teams to play on national TV next to the Lakers. TV is not an issue even if dude played somewhere like Memphis.

Didn't mean it in a sense that they don't care about bringing people in.

The fact that they're bitching to the league about a billboard being built across the street from where they play at. If they're(Nets)are not a threat to you(Knicks)then why are you(Dolan)getting upset at it for? That should be the LAST thing on his mind and the LAST thing he should be worried about.

Prokhorov said when he first took over he was planning on changing Knicks Fans over to Nets Fans and depending on what happens in these next few weeks, it very well could start to happen.

Can you provide an article that shows that the Knicks complained to the league about the billboard? Secondly, how does them being upset about a rival team moving in on their turf make them less interested in free agency? And thirdly, it was YEARS ago when the Knicks made the pitch to Grant Hill (I did see the interview and it was a good one I thought), so that point is irrelevant altogether. And lastly, talk about the Knicks using celebrities all you want, but it's not as if Jay-Z is Joe Random. And that actually IS the only advantage that the nets can use so....

Wow, now people are just taking it to a personal level with the whole "Cleveland basketball was never alive" BS.

Some of the best, and most gut wrenching history in Cleveland sports has come via the Cavaliers. It's insulting to everyone who is a Cavaliers fan to say this bull****.

                        1.Re-read my post man.

I said I didn't mean it in a sense that ya'll didn't care at all. I just said that he shouldn't be worried about it if he's not worried about them at all, which is true.

                        2. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slu...bronnets063010

The top contenders for James are jockeying, and those on the inside issued a warning on the eve of the summer free agency: The Nets are serious contenders for James – far outdistancing the neighboring New York Knicks who awoke to a 225-by-95-foot mural of Prokhorov and Jay-Z outside Jim Dolan’s office window at Madison Square Garden. The Knicks have already called the league office, grumbling about its arrival
Woj is usually pretty accurate on the stuff he reports so I don't see why he would need to lie and make something up like for something as small as this is, considering he has no allegiances to neither team.

                        3. You sure Jay-Z is the only advantage we can use(between the Nets and Knicks)? Because when it comes to these two teams we can take away Mr. Carter and we'd STILL have an advantage over them lol.

It most definitely will happen, especially those of us from Brooklyn. Many times I have thought that my allegiance to my borough will turn my love to the Nets and its unfortunate that the original plan of having the stadium done for this coming season didn't work out, because if Barclays Center was ready to play games in today, I think it would be almost automatic that LeBron would be a Net. I've enjoyed a championship for the Rangers, 3 for the Giants, and many for the Yankees in my lifetime, I just hope that one of these days a basketball team in my hometown can bring a trophy home.
