It doesn't matter how "great" your city is. LeBron will have a house in NY no matter where he goes.
it kind of does matter, during the season if he were to have a house in ny and a play somewhere else he'd be home at most 4 times during the season...., if he plays here he'll be home at least 41 times during the season

If that is true, and he's going on ESPN to announce he is leaving, he better be prepared to never be accepted back in Northeast Ohio again.

There wouldn't be a one hour special on ESPN if he was staying...

KD is younger than all these clowns and is the most humble and mature of them all. Loves ball and wants to obviously win. That's all he cares about.

Give me KD over any of these immature pre-madonnas any day of the week.

LeBron's twitter says "King of Akron". If he leaves, he'll have to change it to "Pariah of Akron".

I think we need to retire this logic. It's not telling to whether he will stay or go with this special. You can easily make the argument that he'd have this big one hour special to stay by saying that if he does stay in Cleveland it won't be for more than three years. If he goes on National Television and stays home with the Cavs if they don't get anything done or they win the chip this year or next, when he gets ready to leave after that three year deal he's not going to be hated in Cleveland like the OH guys says he will for leaving. He can say he went on ESPN and declared his loyalty to home, that he stuck with Cle when he could have been gone for the bright lights of another city and it didn't pay off for him or he finished the job and now he's exploring what else is out there. Either way you look at it though, having this special isn't an endorsement for either decision.

That's the impression I got as soon as I heard of LeBron's "announcement". I don't think there's been something like this with this apparent magnitude in the history of sport.

That one player can effectively take the entire world of his athletic domain hostage like LeBron has, and so deliberately and really without regard for the game itself, is a bit disgusting to me.

What is "regard for the game"?

He wouldn't be able to take the "entire world of his athletic domain" hostage if people would stop caring. He only has that power because you give it to him.

Well at least he's giving the proceeds from sponsorships to charity, so he can at least divert the focus on him being an attention whore.

It will be interesting to see where he holds this "announcement" but the word from ESPN is that they wanted to keep that under wraps. Not sure that really means anything but if he isn't in Cleveland, could be a sign. Now that reportedly Bosh is off the market, things aren't looking good for the Cavs.

He needs to think of the past and future, not himself. Let's have a little respect for the game of basketball and the league that he plays under.

Would Jordan, Bird and Magic pull this stunt?

Heck, while we are at it, let's throw a parade in the city he chooses and call it King James Day. Maybe we can have a national holiday once a year for King James.
It has nothing to do with what he thinks, the reality is he has organizations begging him to join their team, cities getting everyone they can to talk him into going there, and teams giving up on the last two years to putting themselves in position to get him. If you believe that he thinks that he is "bigger than the league", then blame the league for bowing down to him.

Guys I know it seems selfish, but this announcement has everything to do with the league. Look how we've basically been clued to this site & others daily. Wondering/Pondering where LBJ & Others were going.

We've done it because we love the NBA. Thursday Night 9pm ESPN will have the MOST watch program in their history. Easy 20 million viewers. Most of us here will be a part of that. Yeah LBJ has had this planned for 2 years now, ish I ain't mad @ him. You do what you gotta to put bread on the table & if this is gonna help him do that & put the NBA on the forefront also. More power to him

That's what's going to happen. He's waiting for Kobe to retire in L.A.

Yeah if this was really a detriment to the league then you better believe that Stern would be doing anything he can to stop it.
