With kids like this around, 2012 cant come soon enough...
What does talent have to do with anything. EVERYONE has a talent, many exceptional talents. You claim Lebron handled this correctly? You claim this isnt becoming a trend? Name current NBA players who have stuck with there teams. Kobe? Paul Pierce? How many others?

Sorry I dont see the fun in having the same 4 teams at the top, or wondering which face of the franchise was leaving there teams to build a super team. Forget Lebron, this is pro sports today.

Do some of you even know what real sports were about long ago? It wasnt JUST about me, myself, and I, that I promise you.

Believe what you want, Ive seen it first hand. At this point we will agree to disagree.

That's cool. It was pretty obvious that wiser didn't mean you but maybe older did? You haven't proven anything but the ability to make sweeping generalizations about a whole age bracket.

You seem to have the misguided perception that LeBron owes the Cavs and fans such as yourself anything. He played his heart out for 7 years. He made Gilbert and the Cleveland organisation many millions of dollars. They tried to win but they couldn't get it done. He wanted to go play basketball with his friends in Miami and legitimately have a shot at winning titles, i just don't see the harm in that.

Maybe not the Cavs organization he doesn't owe, but he definitely owed the fans of that team better than what they got. Those fans supported him through everything, through the non-handshakes, ridiculous dancing on the sidelines during games, posing, confiscated dunk tapes, every type of criticism that was thrown at him, Cavs fans had his back on everything and he went on national television and dumped on them. He strung them along watching them beg and plead for him to stay and make all these groups and some guy even converted his car into a mobile petition for him, not to mention Cleveland making the most pathetic 'We Are The World' knockoff video I've ever had the displeasure of seeing in my life and he did things the way he did to them. It's just low. That's not the way you handle business.

If LeBron just left like every other free agent in the history of pro sports then yes there would be no harm. The thing is he made himself bigger than the game and shat on Cleveland for the whole world to watch.

God this thread is a damn merry go round...

People aren't mad at him for leaving, they are mad where and how he went. How hard is that to understand?

You make good points there. I guess my feelings is that it's a two way street. Yes the Cavs gave LeBron support and love but he also gave them relevance as a basketball destination, excitement and even economically stimulated the local economy. Now that he leaves it's all daggers and hate.

Yes he could have handled it better, yes i realize they feel slighted and i probably would as well if i was a Cavs fan. At the end of the day he played what will amount to probably close to half his whole career there and left through free agency for what he thought was a better offer. It would have been a hard choice to make for anyone but at the end of the day he had to do what he felt was best for him and not for others regardless if it turned him from a hero to a villain.

Do you onestly think if he just would've released a prepared statement that there would be any less venom? Gus would be calling him a coward or not making a public statement and taking questions.

Im going to be honest with you, the reason this has gone on for so long is because that is not the reason people are mad at him

                  I'll give you an example

The legacy people who swear now he was the GOAT until he left. I mean I've seen the LeBron4GOAT movement come out of nowhere, especially from people you never see post in this forum during the season. Its quite astonishing

That and I think people are mad because they feel he isn't wired like a superstar is supposed to be. He's complacent with being the second fiddle and us as NBA fans, don't want to see that out of our superstars.

There are many other reasons but I was trying to sum it up quickly because I've gathered that that seems to most prevelant feeling that the way all this went down was pretty cowardly.

Regardless of how people feel about that, its his decision, but the point it, there are several conversations that got mixed into one bag.

I've said it before, I dont really see a ton of people supporting the ESPN special at all, if anyone but the mass bashing on him leaving other than Cleveland fans, I dont get the craziness of how the league is ruined, how he's a coward for not wanting to not play with Wade, how his mother is the butt of threats and all of that etc....

All in all, ESPN and his people got what they wanted, he got what he wanted
and regardless of whats being said of how bad the actual decision itself was people are talking about the NBA, because that draft was weak.

*sigh* Again it's not so much that he left. I know Cleveland would be upset regardless, but they would not hate him the same way if he didn't completely **** on them with that special and this dragged out charade of a free agency. Flooding info to all the reporters so everyday it was some new team that was ahead to get him and that Cleveland were the frontrunners in the last few days...I mean, it was completely classless. He knew he was going with Wade and Bosh because that what they set they're contracts up for. It's not like Miami only got the cap room close enough for them Thursday morning, they made they're last cap clearing move on the day before the draft or draft day (can't remember the exact day).

NBA needs to investigate Bosh's comment and fix this nonsense from happening again.

Did he say it in the interview with them three? I missed that, what did he say?

Yep it happened in the "celebration" with all three of them. Don't have the exact quote, but he pretty much said this has been in the works for months.
