Friends got jokes all the time, right? It's all good when it's just you and a couple homies talking crap. Like that one commercial with the 4 guys sitting around the sofa cracking on one dudes hat, another dudes hairline. Good fun, no emotions. Put that same conversation at a crowded restaraunt or bar with a bunch of fine ladies around. Suddenly, the dude catching the hairline and fat jokes isn't as accepting of the ridicule. If all the females were laughing and pointing at him, he's be pissed, guaranteed...even if the jokes were exactly the same. A part of being embarrassed is predicated on the volume of people who are making fun of you. C'mon son, lol...you've been there.

Bron cracked on us, and dissed us. Left our franchise in the worst possible situation you can leave a team in...all the while pumping up our hopes. He referenced our pain by naming "The Decision" in a way that coincided with our past. OK, that all hurts bad enough. But to purposely get on stage and make sure you gather up a huge audience before you stick that knife in? Wow. One douchebag making an innappropriate sign doesn't reflect on a city. It's one individual sending a message to another. LeBron inviting the world in to ridicule my entire city...that's embarrassing. It's really not that complex.

Announcing early in FA that he planned to leave would have been a story. Basketball fans would have digested it first, then sports fans in general, and eventually the wider world over a period of weeks. Nah, LeBron made sure EVERYONE, including people who don't even follow basketball or sports in general were paying attention while he delivered the fat jokes. Made sure everyone would be talking about it the next day. Made sure all the tired "Cleveland is a dump" cliches and snickering at CLE's sports misery striking yet again is THE story around the whole world.

Even on here you see it on OS...vitriol aimed at CLE by people I would wager have never been here, and only care to comment cuz they've been sucked into the totally predictable backlash to the backlash. Do you go on different websites tho? Do you know what it's like to literally have millions of people pointing and laughing at you and your city? I'm born and raised here. They're talking about my streets. My restaraunts. My family and friends. LeBron and co. followed through on this debacle with no regard to how it made us look. is it "teh wurst thing evar? Lol, nah. But it does hurt as much as e-pain can I guess. It really does suck to know your franchise will be stuck in the mud for half a decade, but that's another subject.

I will say this tho...I really beleive in my heart that when the decision was conceived, the parties involved expected it to be CLE, and by the time he had actually decided, it was too late. This was Maverick's baby, and Bron wasn't going to pull that rug out from under a real freind, just to spare the feelings of a town he had an inferiority complex against anyway.
Good post man. That's a really good job putting into words what that did to the city and exactly what I was thinking. Originally I didn't think it was a big deal, that it would really be this big crushing thing that guys from Cleveland were talking about. Then I actually watched "The Decision." It was cold and calculating cause dude made sure that cameras were set up in Cleveland to capture they're exact moment, they're exact reaction when he stabbed them right in the heart and to make matters worse....cameras were right there in Miami to see the suckiest fanbase in all of sports jumping around celebrating and going nuts about his decision as soon as they were done showing Cleveland fans crying and just looking as if they'd been kicked right in the balls.

It doesn't help that everything leading up to "The Decision" just wasn't right. The quitting thing and even though at the time I LOLed at it, the whole Joakim Noah/Cleveland deal. It's like LeBron intentionally made his hometown team a complete joke. Showing up to Browns games in Cowboys hats or Indians games with Yankee stuff on, never taking the time to squash all the speculation about whether he was going to stay or not so that he could continue building up the hype for his BS special. Not talking to anybody in the organization at all prior to the show and even then he wasn't the one that called just before the announcement.

Like I said earlier, what LeBron did was essentially be the girlfriend who goes on tv with her boyfriend and dumps him while completely dissing his ability and equipment in the bedroom while EVERYONE is watching.

      Re: The LeBron James Thread

I feel so bad for Cleveland this morning. They were waiting for this game ever since LeBron ripped their heart out on national television, but their "hometown" team was so happy to see their former teammate, and decided to let him off easy in his return.

I expected Miami to win, but I thought it would be a very competitive game. I was screaming at the TV last night, "Put him on his ***!" When he would just drive down the lane untouched with three white jerseys just watching him. I thought Byron Scott would have that team ready to play last night, I guess not.

Ironically, this could be the very point in which Miami turns their season around. Having to deal with all the hype this week, and playing their best game of the season. Maybe this will get the Miami fans excited, and they will have a sellout at home.

Props to that man right there! Who is he?

Good to see someone with a pair of nuts on the Cavs bench.

        Powe looked heated too.

Seems like the new Cavs had more beef with LBJ than the old Cavs...except Mo.

I feel bad for Dan Gilbert. They're going to have a real tough time getting anyone to watch that gutless team the rest of the season, including this guy. How do you not show up for the biggest game of your season (or least your fans' season)? Just shows that these guys can say they care about the fans, but they're just all buddies with each other. Really looking forward to that lockout...

Ok guys... One thing that is botheirng about this LeBron-Jordan commerical. When exactly does LeBron refer to Jordan in his commerical. If people are saying when he say "Sell Shine Shoes". How does that connect with Jordan? I just been wondering the last few days. Because LeBron could be talking about anyone in the league.

I've been to these 3 games in Toronto.

                        1) TMacs first game back with the Magic (was on aprils fools day)

                        2) VC's first game back with the nets

                        3) 2007 Playoffs - game 1. The fans actually morphed the "Lets go Raptors" chant into......'Lets go Raptors....VC sucks".

The "media" zoo will be nowhere near last nights game. But actual fan interaction with there former star might be way worse than what Lebron got.

Toronto fans can get nasty with this type of stuff.....it's almost our trademark...LOL......anyways, will see come february.

^^LOL^^.... Yea seriously guys. Has anyone seen the NBA.com recap... They should just call it the LeBron vs Cleveland recap.

I know a lot of people might look at all the other stuff happening off the court. But in my opinion... LeBron James is still playing the best basketball in the world right now. This is no knock on Kevin Durant (He had a down right crazy summer). But if LeBron is head of the arrow like he has been for their last 3 games. They will be a very hard team to beat.

Wait a minute..... Is that what people are saying? Did he refer to anything that Jordan actually said when he got in? I'm just asking because I don't know. Because it has been bothering me... why would Jordan at this stage in his career make a commerical to even get into all of that? Jordan is "The Man", "God" or any other thing you can think of. All I can think of is Marketing. But still Jordan brand has always been clean cut. It's still the best commerical of all them.
