I think he said during a game. I think it was the Laker Christmas game if I'm not mistaken. Let me check for you.

Thanks, do you have a quote? I'd like to know what he said.
Sorry I don't have the quote. They were talking about Stan's comments on the radio and chimed in that JVG admitted he was off on the 70 win prediction. Hopefully Jeebs can find something.

Van Gundy has a very knowledgable basketball mind.

Coaching? Maybe not what he's meant for.

          Two separate topics/issues.

He was probably just speaking in hyperbole on a broadcast like he usually does. But usually he's spot on with his assessments/views. Whenever he isn't getting into BSPN mode with Mark Jackson, he's not that far off from reality/truth.

I give him props for actually reminding people he made the statement and admitting it was wrong. Not enough of that in the media.

Yea he admit to it on live tv during a game. I can't find which game. Both the games I think he said in are not on my phone. Have wait until I get home. But he did say he was stupid for saying such a crazy thing.

People trying to say this guy is 'little game James'? Are you ****ing serious? Do you watch the NBA? ahhahahahahahah
LBJ is not clutch and never has been. Weren't they also under dogs in most of those playoff series? Easy to go out there and show your *** when no pressure is on. I will def point to the Celtics game because no "leader" should ever quit on his team.

When he and his team were expected to do something, he's nowhere to be found.

Explain to me how he isn't clutch and has never been.

Is Kobe not a leader either?

I really think people have this whole "clutch" thing upside down. The stats say LeBron has been one of most clutch players in the last 3-4 years. He misses a few shots in the same month. And its enough to call him not clutch lol.

I mean the way some of you sound more like "hate" instead of having clear logic lol

edit: If you want to say... "Kobe has hit more buzzer beaters than LeBron". I would be totally behind that. But to LeBron hasn't come through with points when his team has needed is just wrong.

To me, clutch in basketball is being able to make that last shot. That has never been LBJ's thing ever. I remember him rather passing the ball to Donyell Marshall than rather take that shot.

And when he does take it, if it's not a dunk, he usually misses. How am I wrong?

#1: you still didn't answer me about Kobe.

#2: To me, you have a horrible/terrible idea of what clutch means. 82games.com has clutch stats, and the criteria isn't that crazy.. has James #1 the past several years. And please also respond to my later post:

He's definitely made his share of shots in "clutch" situations. There's no question about that. I do, however, think you make a good point about the expectations going into the game... situations where losing is expected but he brought them to a win vs situations where winning is expected and he didn't seem to be able to deliver.

I think we'd need some hard stats to say that it's more fact than a perception though, but I see where you're going with that.

It doesn't have to mean it, obviously, but in some cases it applies.

                                To this one, it does.

Also, check 82games.com's criteria for "clutch", to me that's a fair criteria.
