It would've had a bigger impact if he did it earlier in his career, but since he's desperately trying to become a fan favorite again, it'd be a good move for him. The downside is there will DEFINITELY be more clowning if he doesn't win (and since it's not exactly a test of skill his chances aren't much better than anyone else).

Bron isnt really great dunker anyhow, Dont get me wrong he is a very good dunker but you wont say hes in that upper echelon he probably is afraid of losing.. and we missed out on potential atg contest.. with him Kobe, Carter Richardson years ago.

Id agree he should do it.. because he wants to be loved and the fans have been wanting to see it would be great PR

People would be booing Lebron during every dunk attempt, and cheering everytime he missed one.

          Don't do it Bron.

The problem (IMO) is with things they couldn't control. The stars stopped coming. Nique was a sick dunker... so was Jordan. But their names in a contest like this is what made it special (and special shot out to Dr J of course). Since Kobe and Carter, the big name young superstars haven't been there. We can throw Howard in there but he's so tall it's hard for him to look as impressive as the wing players. We did get Blake but he's not big enough alone. If we had a contest with Blake, James and Wade you can throw the gimmicks out the window.

I think if James had participated one or more of his first 3 years it could've held onto some of that old nostalgia.

That would've been must see tv.

I think Lebron would've been great in the days before all the props and crap. Power and distance were at least as important as creativity (and creativity wasn't all that crazy). Nowadays I don't know if he's creative enough to win... plus today the expectations would be high and there's only so much new stuff you can do.

Honestly I'm not disappointed with Bron not doing it because I don't think he's ever been a creative enough dunker to get out of the first round of the contest. Bron's dunk sickness has always been the sheer force he attacked the rim and how high a guy his size can jump. I think that's part of why he's never done it.

Now who I am disappointed with is Derrick Rose as he should've done one of these by now. Russell Westbrook is another guy that needs to be in one of these. I'd rather see those two than Bron Bron in the contest.

Rose can't palm the ball. That's why you always see those two-handed jams from him.

I remember reading somewhere or during one of the games, that Rose can't palm the basketball.

Even if Rose could palm, I wouldn't want to see him in the contest....creative finisher, but not a creative dunker...

If they had a lay up competition TP and Rose would be Jordan and Nique in that *****

None of these big guys are interesting to see in the dunk contest. LeBron's power makes it amazing, Rose's two-handed style doesn't fly, Westbrook, eh.

Give me Andre Iguodala again, please. Let him "redeem himself" for "losing" to that hobbit punk in 2006.

Yeah I'd like to see what he can do in an actual dunk contest setting.

                            Anyone read this?

LeBron James will not be apologizing to Oklahoma City Thunder center Kendrick Perkins for tweeting about Blake Griffin's dunk over Perkins last week. And while he's at it, he's tired of getting blamed for things that he doesn't feel are his fault.

Lebron just rubs me the wrong way. I have to say I do agree Lebron should stop worrying about the fans, and looking good, and just win a few championships. He went to Miami to help Wade get another championship, and IMO that's what he should do. Then he can run his mouth all he wants.

Thats just my opinion. I know everyone see's the Lebron thing differently. I'm a bit older, so I do agree most of the sports players these days seam like they are Gods greatest gift to sports, and not like mature leaders. Ya, we had some of those in the old days too, but now its like they all are becoming like that. Kind of sad IMO. One things I wish is adults would act like adults. I miss those days

Surprised Perkins' comments about LeBron and LeBron's reaction to him and Bird haven't been brought up yet. I feel like Perkins is realllll sour that he got posterized and just lashed out at the easiest target, but that's just my opinion.
