Re: The LeBron James Thread
ive read about the last 10 pages or so.
with all that lebron is doing right now. lets not forget that he still only has 1 championship.
imo ppl get ahead of themselves with the praise. meaning we can praise what he's currently doing as a great achievement but we also cant use what he's currently doing to predict his future achievements. and i feel thats what some folks are doing.
4 ex, some say he's dominating the competition sorta jordan-esque. i disagree, all he's doing is having another phenomenal regular season. thats all it is, the regular season.
what is it all worth and how can he be dominating the competition, if at the end of the yr he's not the one holding up the championship? thats how jordan, kobe, magic, bird would look at it.
so to say he's dominating the league jordan-esque, when for all his greatness the only thing its added up to so far is 1 ring, is something ima have to respectfully disagree on.
out of respect to those who have actually earned the stripes on their jersey, im not going to give any man any more praise than that which he has actually earned and sports a stripe on his jersey for.
---------
Spoiler
also. lebron saying that a person's greatness cant be judged on rings, shows that he still has some weak spots in his mentality.
its ok for fans to argue that point for him, but not him.
imo he should be trying to solidify his claim to the title of the greatest basketball player the game has ever seen. because thats what his talents say he should be going after. not everybody is blessed with the talent to even shot for the crown.
so for him to say that his greatness shouldnt be determined by the number of rings ultimately gets, when rings is the standard of measurements the greats hold themselves to, just shows that while talent-wise he may be there; mentally he's simply not on that jordan, kobe, magic, bird level at this point.
atleast thats how i take those comments.Last edited by TajDeni; 02-18-2013, 12:57 PM.Through Holy Union God Lives Inside For Everyone

Re: The LeBron James Thread
Basketball is a team game, and Lebron recognizes it as such. Yes, winning championships can say a lot about someone, but it can also not say much at all. If Kobe spent his career in, say, Minnesota or Toronto, he wouldn't have 5 championships. Would he be a worse player?
The Champion Narrative is really a joke. Individuals don't win championships.Comment

I never said James was becoming Jordan-esque from a winning standpoint, or championship standpoint, or accomplishment standpoint.
I said the way he was separating himself from everyone else in the league as the shear cut best player was Jordan-esque.
Meaning that for a long period during the 90s nobody could say so and so is better than MJ. And with the way LeBron has been playing the past few seasons its been the same with him.Comment

It's funny the argument used to be "until LeBron wins a ring" and now it's "well he only has 1 ring" oh well..
Like I said before, guys like Hakeem, Oscar, West, Baylor, Wilt, don't have a large collection of rings. Yet nobody holds any of that against them.Comment

LeBron passes when it's appropriate more times than not. I don't see how you can state that he only tries to get "assists". That's not his game. He overpasses more than anything. To claim he never makes "hockey assists" is pretty dumbfounding honestly. To claim that makes you look really really suspect, either of bias or of sheer naivety when it comes to the game of basketball.
His unselfishness is not overstated by any stretch. There are plenty of times during games where he touch passes or quick passes around the perimeter and he's not looking for his shot or to attack. He's played the same way his entire career.
That's why Cleveland won so many regular season games with a not so great cast. LeBron moved the ball around to everyone and everyone felt involved which energized them as a unit. Even though they didn't have equal talent to the other contenders, they were still always a top seed because he utilized everyone so well.Comment

like i said you can use it for him, but he doesnt get to use it. after all he was the one who said, miami was going to win 7 championships. obviously he thought he was on a team that was good enough to pull off such a feat.Last edited by TajDeni; 02-18-2013, 01:42 PM.Through Holy Union God Lives Inside For Everyone

Re: The LeBron James Thread
I don't understand the argument you're making against LeBron. Are you saying he's not playing the best in the league right now? Or are you saying his "legacy" thus far is underwhelming?

Re: The LeBron James Thread
no the not winning championships is a joke. facts are that lebron is on a team good enough to win championships right now in the prime of his career. so imo lebron doesnt get to use this excuse.
like i said you can use it for him, but he doesnt get to use it. after all he was the one who said, miami was going to win 7 championships. obviously he thought he was on a team that was good enough to pull off such a feat.
and seeing as the "immortal" Kobe Bryant lost in his first finals appearance with out Shaq I'm sure you'll understand..
The Facts are that Lebron is still in his prime and has not completed his career so we shouldn't jump to conclusions just yet on what excuses he can or can't use.Comment

Re: The LeBron James Thread
If you're referring to what I said:
I never said James was becoming Jordan-esque from a winning standpoint, or championship standpoint, or accomplishment standpoint.
I said the way he was separating himself from everyone else in the league as the shear cut best player was Jordan-esque.
Meaning that for a long period during the 90s nobody could say so and so is better than MJ. And with the way LeBron has been playing the past few seasons its been the same with him.
but we seem to have short memories,
after the nba PR machine built lebron up to win the championship every yr his last 3yrs in cleveland and him failing to do so. then with his failings his 1st yr in miami; the nba PR machine was laying the groundwork to hand over the entire league to KD.
if lebron loses in the finals, the league PR machine was ready to write him off and move on without him.
he's only truly been King for less than 1 full yr. the rest of his story is yet unwritten.Last edited by TajDeni; 02-18-2013, 02:02 PM.Through Holy Union God Lives Inside For Everyone
