Unless this is the start of them all opting out and resigning for less.

I think it means absolutely nothing. Things could go one of a million different ways right now. Lebron could re-up in Miami for cheaper to give the Heat more cap space to work with, he could go elsewhere, he could resign in Miami for a bigger deal (seems like the least likely of all the options), etc.

I pretty much expected them all to opt out to resign for less money, but I'm sorta intrigued that Lebron did it on his own. He didn't do it at the same time and Wade and Bosh. Probably meaningless, but the door is certainly open to him leaving now

                  Re: The LeBron James Thread

This isn't surprising at all. LeBron was opting out from the beginning. I will say though, the timing of this is rather curious. I wasn't expecting to hear about this until about Saturday or Sunday considering the deadline for him to decide is Sunday. The big news will be what Bosh and Wade do. If they both opt out, then the picture remains unclear on what's going to happen until July because then all of them taking less is right there on the table. If they both opt in, I think LeBron is gone cause I just can't see him being the only one of those three taking a paycut.

I want to see Wade pickup his option

Can't wait to see how this plays out. I can't see Lebron in any jersey other than the Heat or Cavs though. It'd definitely be "interesting" for sure.

                      Re: The LeBron James Thread

LeBron is a very intelligent and tactical man. Dating back to the start of last year he's known that his teammates are aging and that at some point soon they would need to re-tool. Win or lose against the Spurs and I still think he had of this all masterminded...

I am confident he is staying and this move to opt out sooner rather than later confirms my theory. I believe he's going to sign a deal to allow the Heat to sign some free agents and Bosh and Wade will follow his lead. By him doing this so quickly it will allow Heat brass to crunch numbers and target free agents immediately with their cap number already in hand.

I expect Wade and Bosh to follow suit any moment now...

I didn't realize LeBron had went out on his own in his representation separately from Bosh and Wade. Heard Windhorst saying on Sportscenter that one of the differences in now and 2010 was that the three of them did the process side by side with them all having the same agent at CAA. That's an interesting tidbit.

Look guys... right now I'm pretty sure LeBron has a deal in place to come back to the Heat already. Once all the flames go down.

But on the off hand chance I'm wrong. I think LeBron will go where ever he can win rings.

That is interesting. I think it could be a situation where LeBron is like look yall, you do your own thing we're all grown men but this is what I want. You guys can follow suit and we can re-tool and if not I'll be free to go somewhere where it could possibly be a better situation to win.

That's exactly how I feel what will happen. In my opinion they have build something really nice here. And he is willing to give it a chance. But if no one wants in. He is gone. But I think the one thing no other team can offer is Pat Riley, Spo, and Miami (weather and celebrity town).

I also think LeBron uprooting his family to move again will keep him in Miami. With a baby girl on the way.
