    Re: The LeBron James Thread

I wish we didn't have to deal with the MJ comparisons and could just enjoy LeBron for who he is, but one thing that always irks me is that they compare it based upon age rather than NBA experience.

LeBron was 18 upon breaking into the league, Jordan was 21. Compare them based upon their years of NBA experience, not their age.

i just saw something interesting on this, comparing their # of playoff appearances rather than age/season in the nba

        These last couple of pages...

Props to the dude though...2 years 2 rings, 2 MVPs...not much you can say.

At this point, we should all except that LeBron is LeBron. His approach to the game is unlike any other player i've seen. He's not a killer, like say, Bird...he's a serial killer. He's got his own little way of doing things that no one else really gets...but at the end of the day muh***** end up dead...

So how is Larry scoring on Lebron? He's not driving by him, so would he just try posting him up? Lebron with his speed & handle would have Larry on his heels.
This just reeks of recency bias. Bird was a good defender, good passer, good rebounder, and one of the best shooters of all-time. I'm not saying LeBron isn't smart, I'm not saying LeBron isn't one of the most gifted and talented players of all-time.

But this notion that he would toast a prime Larry Bird is ridiculous. That is a match-up I would pay to watch.

Same thing happen to Dirk couple years ago...

He was better than Bird for a few weeks here at OS

And if Duncan would have won then the narrative would have been Duncan for top 5 of all time.

No because they'd be in here preaching to the influx of naysayers to stop trying to rank LeBron before his career is over and trying to understand why people can't just let him play. Which is why I say both sides need to chill out. They're like bandwagon fans. Soon as **** happens that they wanna see you can't shut 'em up from rubbing it in and going wild with whatever narrative they're trying to push. Soon as it goes the other way though you don't hear a peep.

All this mention of Larry Bird and no mention of Dr. J? Haha. I watched almost all of their games - and they were almost always matched up - and Dr. J almost always gave Bird the biz.

Maybe I'm biased because I'm a Sixer fan but Julius is the top SF of all time, Lebron is fighting Bird for second.
