I don't care to argue here about it anymore its been beat to death, obviously LeBron isn't on Jordan's level yet when you factor in their ability, accolades, championships and legacy. I agree with that, but I just feel that on their ability to play basketball standpoint he's pretty much there and that's all I wanted to do was give my opinion..
The main reason I even brought it up is because of everything on ESPN.. I think it's stupid to say LeBron is better or could be better because of his stats and him being only 28, I also think it's stupid to say Jordan is better because he has 6 rings or that nobody can catch him because he's 6/6 in the finals, and I also think it's stupid to compare them head to head when their play style and areas they contribute in are so different..
I just wanted to throw out a type of comparison that seemed logical to me, and one where I personally felt made more sense than to compare areas that are pretty much uncomparable.. All the arguing and back and forth got away from what I intended my post to be and just don't want a part in that anymore.Comment

I'll gladly post them in a message to Pack if he really wants to hear what I think.

Screw ESPN. As for your point, Lebron's "ability" has been there for some time. The problem is mentally being able to bring that ability at a consistent high level. And you can say, "well, I'm acknowledging that's not there just pointing out something that is there." But the problem is there are a number of players who that can be said for. In terms of ability Paul George does compare to Durant like mentioned in that other thread. Ability isn't enough to have that mention IMO.
Don't get me wrong, Lebron's mental is pretty damn good, and his ability isn't just a rival to Jordan but on the level of something we've never seen before. He's certainly special. But nobody gets a pass for "being able to do" until they consistently "do". He's getting better but many have tried and failed to get all the way there. And unathletic guys like Bird and McHale are examples of how amazing just that consistent connection can make you.Comment

I don't know what else to say, I just do not agree with you. I disagree that he doesn't consistently put his skills together. Or that he doesn't bring his ability at a consistent level. LeBron to me is the definition of consistently utilizing all your skills.. And just as before I could post a story book long post explaining why.
The only think LeBron doesn't consistently bring is that competitive mind set. That I want to beat you at all cost killer instinct.. He doesn't always being that to the court like some of the other greats have, I've said that about him for years.. But that has nothing to do with how he brings all his skills together.
As far as utilizing his skills go, LeBron is as good as anybody I've ever watched at bringing all his skills to the court on a consistent basis. He doesn't fill his stat sheet as good as anybody ever by being inconsistent man, it just doesn't work that way.Comment

Re: The LeBron James Thread
That's all I need to hear! 23, when someone makes the 'Victor Oladipo v. Ben McLemore' thread, or 'Who Would You Rather Have' or 'Carmelo Anthony/Tracy McGrady' thread, just close it with a quickness, and be like, NO MORE COMPARISONS! If they don't listen.... turn me pink! HahaComment

Re: The LeBron James Thread
I don't get how comparison threads fail on here. They work on almost every bball forum but this one. Too many guys think they are keyboard analysts. I wish there was a more open mindness to comparisons. Comparison conversations are apart of ball. I really wish we could have them without the condescending tones or the dogpile mentality.
Maybe we should start an AIM blast group for guys that like those barbershop conversations. I love comparing.#WashedGamerComment

Each player in the league is different, and in the history of the game, no 2 players are/were the same. Oscar Robertson, LeBron James and Magic are 3 players that we can easily compare, but at the end of the day, each of those 3 were different from one another, thus killing off the comparisons. There are so many variables to account for when comparing players that sometimes we sometimes don't account for, like the rule changes, the team said players were surrounded with, difference in position and play style, etc.
Someone comes up to you and says, hey do you like Paul George's game? "Yeah I love his game, he's young, he's already shown this, he's got potential to become this, he's a great young player," we're cool. But then it'll go to,
'Which player would you rather have, KD or Paul George', "well Paul George can't do this, that and those. KD's a better shooter, George can't post, he hasn't done this yet for an entire season, so I'm gonna take KD"... We start destroying someone else's game for no reason, while we're all just unpaid OS analysts haha. Idk why they bug me, but they just do.
Personally though, I'm more tired of the comparisons which include 2 players from 2 different eras that never played against one another, those just seem pointless.Comment

Re: The LeBron James Thread
Me personally I don't like comparing because when we start doing that, we start to discredit other players game and that's not fair. That KD/Paul George thread was a good example, posts starting flying out pointing out the things Paul George can't do or doesn't do well, which just doesn't seem cool to me.

This applies to almost every person that has posted in this thread. One could say, it's one of the main reasons this thread is even this long, lol.#RespectTheCultureComment
