This is hysterically wrong on so many levels.

Brahma, the hype comes from LBJ saying that New York is his favorite city. That and that the Knicks have been trying like hell the last two years to free up enough cap space for two max deals. But yeah, it's def ridiculous.
DC doesn't belong in the same sentence as NY. NY is the only cold winter city that people with money choose to live.

I could be wrong since he kept the argument going but I thought Cebby was being a bit sarcastic. The point is some of the reasons listed for why LBJ would go to NY aren't very logical, and similar logic could be used to say he should go to the Wiz. It's almost like you could summarize the thought as "He should go to NY because it's NY". If there's a wonder why there seems to be more backlash against the idea of the Knicks more than anywhere else, it's bc that type of stereotypical NY attitude is what people hate about people there to begin with.

But again, by and large most of these stupid reasons are being put out there by hack writers (the real stupid stuff comes from sources that don't even cover sports) in NY newspapers which are essentially tabloids. The difference is that people familiar with the NY media know to ignore their BS. Outsiders interpret it as exactly how you wrote about it.

The tabloids are actually pretty negative towards Lebron in NY right now. All signs point to Chicago.

Is that new as of today? There's always some positive and some negative stuff but its pretty even. And which "tabloids" are we referring about here?

                Name one level.

DC controls more money than New York-Unarguable fact as DC controls more money than any city in the world

DC has more power than New York-The most powerful military the world has ever seen is based in DC and the richest country the world has seen is based in DC. On top of that, each state sends their most powerful people to DC

DC is more important than New York-Unarguable again. If New York were to disappear in an instant, the US would lose a lot of financial data and not much else. If DC were to disappear in an instant the entire world would be flung into chaos.

NY is the only cold winter city that people with money choose to live.
Chicago? Boston? Did they suddenly become warm weather cities?

And, for what it's worth, Maryland, almost entirely fueled by DC money, is the richest per capita state in the country.

                Exactly

Do I think Lebron would consider DC? Hell no.

Do I think Lebron is considering New York or New Jersey because of Wall Street or the UN? Hell no.

If Lebron is choosing importance of city as his criteria he'd be going to DC, Beijing, or Munich.

Now, if he wants to go to a big city with celebrities where he won't be the second banana (thus eliminating LA), New York becomes a logical option.

If he wants to become the first team sports billionaire, he should consider Moscow, Tokyo, or Zimbabwe because it's never going to happen by US or European currency.

The center of the U.S. economy is in New York. It's not just financial, it's also the center of the legal, marketing, sports, music, fashion, television, [insert industry I am forgetting].

Where do you get that the government has more money than any other city?

The military isn't even based in DC, get your facts straight.

That's true, but there are a lot of people using those sources to support their argument here... and then after many rebuttals someone mentioned that it seems like everyone is ok with him going anywhere but NY. I'm just saying that's probably why it seems that way.

The budget for 2010 is 3.55 trillion.

To add to that, the federal government can raise taxes to really any level they feel like it (ignoring the obvious political ramifications) so in theory DC controls all of New York's money as well as every dollar in the United States.

The Commander in Chief resides in DC. The Pentagon is less than a mile from the DC border.

Yes, DC has more money and power than NY because in your crazy hypothetical, the federal government could tax 100% of NY's income.

DC controls more money than New York because it does. The Federal Budget is 2-3 times what New York has.

                                Depends on the argument.

That DC is more powerful/important than New York is a fact.

That Lebron will care about either is sarcasm.

As I said earlier, if Lebron wants to be the center of attention with big names at his games, New York is a good fit since he'll never pass Kobe in LA.
