It's my understanding that even with two max players, let's say Lebron and Amare, or LeBron and JJ the Knicks will have roughly $12.5-13 million coming off next year b/c of Curry and Rodriguez. So there are quite a few interesting guys that are unrestricted next season, and let's just leave Melo out of it for a minute...

First off LeBron could have his pick of any former teammate he wants -

    Jamario Moon
    Anthony Parker
    Leon Powe
    Sebastian Telfair
    Delonte West
    Mo Williams (ETO)

    just from Cleveland.

Also of note - Caron Butler, J.R. Smith, Tayshaun Prince, Shane Battier, Yao Ming, Troy Murphy, Zach Randolph, Peja Stojakovic, David West (ETO), Jason Richardson, Carl Landry, Richard Jefferson, Tony Parker, and Andrei Kirilenko.

Now if the Knicks roster was like this in 2010-2011

    C Eddy Curry?? (IDK)
    PF Amare /Gallinari
    SF LeBron
    SG Chandler /Joe Johnson
    PG Douglas

    Bench

    F Gallinari /Chandler
    G Andy Rautins
    F Landry Fields
    F Bill Walker
    C Earl Barron ??

Okay it's horrible at Center. But next year they could potentially get Tony Parker or Troy Murphy and significantly upgrade the team otherwise. Also Yao can be unrestricted next year although I don't see the Knicks having the $$ for him.

Maybe I'm overestimating the lure of New York, but I think a plan similar to this would look pretty good to any FA.

And while I'm spit balling here, let's take a look at the LA Clippers (humor me please)

    C Chris Kaman
    PF Blake Griffin
    SF Lebron James
    SG Eric Gordon
    PG Baron Davis

    Bench

    F Al-Farouq Aminu
    C DeAndre Jordan
    G Eric Bledsoe
    G Steve Blake
    G Willie Warren
    F Steve Novak

Does that not look like a pretty stout line-up 1 thru 9? I'm just sayin...

Doe, my understanding is Rodriguez told the Knicks he isn't coming back. I believe he had a QO.

In addition, Rodriguez's contract is up this year, not next year.

Did you not read Born's post in this thread? No one is comparing elite players to bench warmers when talking about the importance of rings. It's when you compare elite players to other elite players that rings become a factor, and one of the biggest factors in comparing them.

I doubt it. Especially when he's going to Toronto where he won't give a damn what he does, plus the current team is soft as baby **** with no leadership. Beasley would absolutely tank in Toronto.

But despite that, that sign and trade deal LeBatard is reporting for Bosh isn't too bad for Toronto. Probably the best thing they could get.

What? Winning is debatable but the Cavs aren't as far off from winning a title as everyone is making it sound.

Endorsements.....does LeBron not already have a ****load of those, in Cleveland no less? I don't see how that's a factor.

Legacy.....his legacy would be worse if he was known as the guy that basically killed Cleveland basketball.

And I don't know what you mean by career longevity.

IMO it's a toss up between Chicago and Cleveland with New Jersey second (assuming Miami can't get Wade, LBJ and CB4) and NY third.

I don't think that would be fair to say that LeBron is the guy that killed Cleveland basketball, seeing as how he's also the guy that brought it to life. With no LeBron, there never would have been Cleveland basketball to care about, so that has to level out to some degree.

My bad on Rodriguez. I knew Duhon was gone, for some reason I thought Sergio was still lurking. What's the story with Bender? Is there any chance he comes back?

I probably overstated the whole "killing Cleveland basketball" aspect because Cleveland did have some really good teams during the MJ era and I'm sure they'll have good teams after LeBron (how long it takes is the question), but when you factor in the tank job in the playoffs this year it just wouldn't be a good look for LeBron to leave on that note.

Bu-but they went 12-70 and had one of the worst records in league history and are playing in Nework for cryin' out loud!!

                      Why would anyone go there!?!?!

Nah, I'm just messin around but I do find it funny that people(not too many folks on here)(including the Media)are still ruling out the Nets as if they have no chance at all when they have just AS good of a chance to get him than Chicago and Miami.

Of course I've always said all along that he's not coming here and that he would stay in Cleveland but whenever I ask people why he won't play here, they can only say "because you were 12-70" but when you ask them why they think he will go to the Knicks(not a shot at any Knicks fan on here but this is usually how the conversation goes with any so called Basketball fan) "because it's NY and they can bring someone else there too".

I think Bender will sign on as a roleplayer for a low wage. He and Walsh are close, and he seemed to enjoy his time here last year.

That's probably true, as far as LeBron shouldn't leave on this note. Unless, it gets to the point where they still can't win, and he starts getting the Alex Rodriguez treatment, getting booed at home. I don't know how likely that is in Cleveland, but at some point I'd assume the fans are going to start wondering "maybe it's not the supporting cast, maybe it's him" kinda thoughts.
