I miss the days when everyone on the NBA forums were only giving backhanded compliments instead of full on, grabbing for the throat opinions.

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
Seriously I don't need to have a major in accounting or advertising or anything else to have my doubts about this claim of making a billion dollars by being in New York. I just don't see how you can do it without endorsments which aren't going to just dry up and disappear unless you're in New York. There's really nothing that's going to pay more than 10 million dollars that's exclusive to New York City. Derek Jeter has been playing in New York on the most successful/marketable/historic team in all of sports for 15 years now and he isn't even topping the earnings list in his own sport let alone topping all athletes and is no where near the billion dollar mark and yet here we're being sold on LeBron being able to reach a billion on a team that isn't even the most valuable in it's league? I'm not going to say he can't make it, but I certanly have my reasons to doubt it.Comment

Nets awaiting word from LeBron to clear more space to have second full max; would have to move Kris Humphries' contract to get 33 mill under.
I agree with Mac. Nets have replaced Chicago.Comment

Either way I have the same feeling I had with the T-Mac, Duncan, Hill talk to Chicago. At this point I want something. Even... Boozer.Comment

Anyone who thinks New Jersey is ahead of Chicago in this thing, PUT DOWN THE KOOL-AID!
Just because the Nets talked to LeBron today, their stock is up. The odds are pretty much the same as they were after the season, I think, with Cleveland and Chicago easily the frontrunners. However, I think Cleveland's hiring of Scott has increased its chances since the season ended.
Let's look at this New Jersey vs. Chicago thing rationally. LeBron and a second free agent with Derrick Rose and Joakim Noah vs. LeBron and a second free agent with Devin Harris and Brook Lopez. That's not even close. Let's not forget how bad the Nets were. You can't forget that, and Avery Johnson and new ownership doesn't change that.
I really feel like it's 60 percent Cleveland, 35 Chicago and 5 percent someone else. I think the Scott hiring does wonders (even though I think Brian Shaw will be a better coach), and although the Cavaliers have little roster flexibility this year, that will change. They have assets for trades and if you kept that roster in tact, they will have flexibility once that roster runs dry (i.e. Jamison has two good years and then he's gone). After more than eight years on here, I finally figured out how to edit my time zone!Comment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
That's because Derek Jeter isn't even the best player on his own team, let alone the sport. LeBron James will always be the best player on his team no matter where he goes and is undoubtedly at least the second best player in his sport. Imagine if Albert Pujols played for the Yankees. That's a much better comparison but it's still swayed because there are a lot more players on MLB teams (1200 with the 40 man rosters) than there are players on NBA teams (360) at any given time.Comment

Re: The Official "Where is LeBron going?" Thread
The only people now who think that LeBron is going back to the Cavs are people in OH and Cav fans.
There is no way that LeBron will be back with the Cavs.
If he really wanted to, he would've signed an extension or new contract.
LeBron going to Chicago, Miami, NJ will get him another top player or two.
Going back to Cleveland gets him... nothing, same cast but older.
LeBron will have learnt from Garnett who was nice and took an extension in Minnesota. See what that got for Garnett? Nothing.
Garnett only won when he went to another team with talent.
Cleveland has no talent but the other teams have.Comment
