The lack of support for the Marlins, even through two championships, says everything.

It says that people don't like baseball in South Florida.

Plus the Marlins are such a screwy organization since they clean house anytime they have success.

No, it says that people don't care about sports in South Florida. They don't show up for Dolphins games either.

What does that have to do with anything. That means they don't bring in enough revenue to keep the players they bring up in their farm system, because there is no fan support. In 17 years, they have 2 World Series titles. Someone could say they have been spoiled despite the lack of support for that team. Even when they are good, people STILL don't show up.

No, it says that people don't care about sports in South Florida. They don't show up for Dolphins games either.

The Dolphins have mid-level attendance. They finish in the mid to low teens.

The reason their stadium looks empty is because it's either the 6th or 7th largest stadium in the NFL. Finishing in the teens with mediocre teams is pretty good.

What does that have to do with anything.

How many Detroit fans are showing up if in the 2004 offseason they traded Billups, Hamilton, and both Wallaces and came out the next year with a Hunter/Arroyo/Prince/McDyess/Darko lineup?

Probably not that many. Now couple with a city that doesn't care about the sport and its pretty obvious why it matters.

They've won two World Series, but those are also their only two playoff appearances. After their first chip they finished with the worst record in baseball by 9 games. That's not how you build fan support.

You don't have to agree with me, but Miami is not a good sports town unless their teams are good. I'm a seventh generation Floridian, my grandpa is on the Orange Bowl committee, and I've lived in this state my entire life. That's the way it is down here. South Florida is known for creating some the best athletes in the world, not keeping them and maintaining fan support. Miami is notorious in the sports world for not being able to follow their teams.

Being the 7th largest metro area and having middle of the pack attendance for the Heat supports this, despite them being a playoff team. Not to mention Hurricanes attendance in down years or Marlins attendance any year.


This will no longer be a problem for the Heat, though, or any city that fields this roster. A North Dakota expansion team with this roster would sell out every game.

My brother who was a Heat season ticket holder last year was getting bombarded with phone calls from the Heat hoping he'd re-up for season tickets, (this was before Wade re-signed) and the price was soo low, you'd have thought the Heat were a minor league team.

That to me tells me they were desperate to sell season tickets and were worried about not placing enough people in the seats.

Yeah man, I knew Heat "fans" last year that refused to go to the game after given free tickets because they didn't want to pay for parking and the stadium was further than 20 minutes from their house. Now their Facebooks have nothing but LeBron as their profile pictures. You really have to be around this culture to really understand the basketball apathy in this city.

No disrespect to the true Heat fans out there, y'all have stuck through a rollercoaster of a decade.
