Not really. It'd mean an offseason full of media and OS talk of things like that, and then the next season would start where Miami would be the favorites again. LBJ's only 25 so he'd have to fail multiple times in Miami before those comparisons gain any momentum. Personally, I don't think the Heat are winning anything next year and wouldn't be surprised if they got upset before reaching the finals. The year after next is a different story though.

I totally agree. This year they will "feel" things out. Next year I expect them to be the favorites again.

LBJ's only 25 so he'd have to fail multiple times in Miami before those comparisons gain any momentum. Personally, I don't think the Heat are winning anything next year and wouldn't be surprised if they got upset before reaching the finals. The year after next is a different story though.

What's their cap situation going to look like? I can't imagine they'd have very much flexibility with a large portion of their payroll going to three players. And they'd have to draft and scout exceptionally well because I don't see them in the lottery in the hunt for "team changing" young prospects.

And what if we just see lower contract totals and salary caps in the new CBA to give the owners a little more control over their spending habits (which shouldn't be the case, but whatever). Couldn't Miami be in some serious trouble going forward if they're not able to get it done with their trio like right now?

I believe that Dan Gilbert would proceed to take a LeBron Fathead, burn it at the center of the Q then have LeBron tied down by Cleveland fans, then fap in his face 3-7 times while yelling in all caps. He would follow that follow that by trading for Theo Ratliff and re-signing Boobie Gibson to a 6 year deal in celebration. A poster of the incident would then be hung from the Q with the title "We were all witnesses, unfortunately"

But since the Bulls had enough cap room to make some noise wasn't it a forgone conclusion that he was going to get some help? He didn't really need to ask for it. There's a reason why everyone thought the Bulls were the front runners to land James before the FA officially kicked off...that roster is primed and ready for a few pieces that would put them on the right track to a deep playoff run...say...a big to throw the ball down low too, demand some double teams and open things up a little for the perimeter players, and a couple of shooters on the perimeter as well. All things that complement Rose's game.

Because the moves this year put them in Hawks, Mavericks, and Nuggets territory. They're now a solid playoff team but are clearly a step below the Lakers, Heat, and Magic/Celtics.

True. But at the same time Rose knows that if LeBron wants to come here then he would have came. Does LeBron really need to be coddled by the team's current superstar to come play? LeBron is a grown *** man(well, I think he is) and he should be able to make a reasonable choice on his own to play for the Bulls or not.

BUT in the sense of the superstar mentality, yes, they want help to win. BUT they still want to be THE MAN at the same time. And Derrick did get his help in Carlos Boozer. And this was before THE DECISION was made.

I think it comes down to Rose being young and not needing to win now.

Being the stat highlight superstar has its appeal for young players. It did for Kobe, Lebron, Jordan, etc. However, once you reach your mid to late 20s, you realize that you need help to win. Kobe begged for any player he could, Lebron left, and Jordan stopped scoring as much.

Rose doesn't need to win now. He can put up numbers and be the undisputed man. However, when he's ringless signing his third contract, I think he may be a bit more inclined to reach out to other players.

I still don't understand how you can continue to say this, when 1. We haven't seen them play a regular season game yet so we have no idea how good their chemistry can/will become 2. They have become one of the deepest teams in the East and are probably not done making moves. 3. No indication of how much Gibson will improve over last year, but could be a integral part of this team. Last year you could of said that, but not anymore. We can't go off paper. Plus this team is built for playoff basketball unlike the Hawks, Nuggets, Mavericks etc...with defense and solid rebounding and only got stronger this offseason.

Doesn't Gibson play the 4? How is he going to get minutes?

The Bulls certainly got stronger.

However, a 41 win team doesn't add Carlos Boozer, Ronnie Brewer, and Kyle Korver and become champions. They become the Jazz.

If they want to win the championship, their chemistry better matter. Or else, they'll fall in line with the great 60+ win teams like 2007 Mavs and 1994 Sonics and get beat in the first round.
