What, did you expect them to win one off the bat?

Almost every title team I could think of has needed seasons to build their chemistry and fill out their rosters. Even if they don't win this year, they still have a chance to win multiple times considering Boston will be donezo very soon.

The only way I would call their season a failure is if they get destroyed in the second round by Boston. They better at least push Boston to 7 games, or else I'd consider the season a disappointment for Miami.

There are no excuses for him, but please don't act as if 'psssh what will the excuses be if he doesn't win a title this year?' Act as if they're supposed to win one immediately with all the depth issues they had to begin with and the injuries. If they were to win a title with their current team, that would be very impressive.

Hard to look back in history and compare a title team to this one. A top heavy one with no decent center, a paper thin bench but with 3 of the top 25 players.

      Nope

But then again I didn't think he had any excuses the last couple of seasons.

He didn't have excuses the past few years, but the other teams did have a much better chance at winning a title than Cleveland. James just couldn't get it done, but I wasn't expecting him to take that team and beat a loaded Boston/LA, regardless if he gave up or not [which he did]. The year they lost against Orlando he simply played out of his mind and they still lost.

Now in Miami they obviously have the foundation laid down, something he never had in Cleveland.

So now it's just a matter of filling the roster out, finding a PG/C and building chemistry.

I don't think the Thunder are going to win anything without getting some decent offensive production from their bigs. They got the defense with Ibaka an Perkins but teams don't have to worry about them offensively.

In fairness, LeBron said it's a failure if they don't win this year. Sooooo kinda gotta hold it to them at that point.

                As he should say that.

You want your superstar player saying anything different?

I wouldn't want Kobe saying 'well, if we make the finals cool, but if we don't cool'.

To me they look similar to the pre-title Bulls teams. The ones with Pippen and Jordan, but before they had a lot of those key role players fall into place.

Also, about LeBron having "excuses" in the playoffs. Aside from last year, there has been no excuses.

The Cavs' first year in the playoffs, they beat the Wizards and lost to the top seeded Pistons in 7. The next season LeBron carries the team to the Finals and gets swept by the Spurs, who were the better team. The year after that, they beat Washington again and take the (eventual champs) Celtics to 7 games. The only year you could argue was a disappointment (again, aside from last year which was a whole other thing entirely) was losing to the Magic in the ECF.

This is why I believe LeBron diminished his eventual legacy. He accomplished a lot and more importantly IMPRESSED during those runs in Cleveland. He cannot impress anyone by winning it all with the Heat.

I saw a post or two saying he wasn't going to get it done in Cleveland, which I think is hogwash. They had the best record the previous two years (better than these Heat, mind you). If you have the best record, you are a legit contender.

How many times have we been over this same discussion?

Hogwash? Do you think there is a difference between the regular season and the playoffs?

He did quit last year, no doubt.

The year before he played out of his mind and they lost, because they he had inferior help.

Which means absolutely nothing this Heat team is better than anything that stepped on the court with Cleveland. All titles runs are impressive, no one said anything about the Lakers, Bulls, or Celtics not being impressive.
