Re: Where does LeBron rank all-time?

He's 9th all time in triple doubles, despite having about half the playing experience of the rest of the top 10.
That's great. He still isn't racking up triple doubles with ease.

But can a ton of other players put up 40 one night and then put up 20, 10, and 10 the next?
Yes. Chris Paul, Russell Westbrook, etc.

Moreover, can LeBron post 20 & 20 numbers the way Kevin Love, Dwight Howard, and Rondo can? See how arbitrary a measure that is?

You can't really count Dwight considering he doesn't even shoot the ball...
    That's non consequential.

Durant and Dirk shot just as well, if not better than LeBron, but they're shooters. That's what they do.
    That's also non consequential.
Neither of them are close to LeBron defensively
And LeBron isn't close to them offensively. I'm speaking skill wise, not volume wise. But I will give you that LeBron is definitely the superior defensive player. Though, a 22 year old LeBron isn't LeBron defensively.

nor are they close to LeBron when it comes to passing.
I agree, but they aren't asked to be. Both are pretty good passers though.

LeBron's a better rebounder than Durant
No, he isn't. Durant averaged more rebounds last season, LeBron averaged more rebounds this season. Durant has averaged more during the playoffs.

If we're comparing them at similar stages in their careers, as in LeBron's rebounding skill at 22 in comparison to Durant's, Durant has the edge. Actually, to be honest, it's pretty much even.

and while he isn't better than Dirk, he also doesn't play defense right next to the hoop like Dirk either.
You really don't want to tread those waters. Someone could just as easily argue that LeBron's assist numbers are more a reflection of his ball dominance than his court vision or passing ability. It's really just a lofty argument.

I kinda disagree. Dwight was the #1 pick because of the fact that his combination of athleticism and strength hadn't been seen since at least Shaq.
Further cementing my stance that this "once in a lifetime athlete" talk is mere hyperbole. And then there's Blake Griffin, and others.

Come on dude... Durant isn't about to keep Derrick Rose in front of him...
Nope, and neither is LeBron. So that's a moot point. People raving about LeBron's defense on Rose forget the fact that Rose has performed poorly throughout the playoffs, and at one point, was stifled by rookie Paul George.

You name these players that can defend multiple positions, but none of them can also play those positions on the offensive end. Wallace and Durant aren't about to play like Magic Johnson offensively.
Durant and Gerald Wallace can't play the 1 offensively. They aren't asked to. Durant and Wallace can play the 4 on offense though, and do so more effectively than LeBron does.

I'm saying he's an unselfish passer who more often than not puts his teammates in the best positions to score, once again evidenced by his triple doubles despite being one of the best scorers in the NBA.
A lot of players are unselfish passers. I'm not sure exactly how that validates the Rondo court vision comparison?

LeBron has posted historic numbers in his career too.
So have Chris Paul, Kobe, Dwayne Wade, Dwight Howard, Dirk Nowitzki, Kevin Love, Kevin Durant, etc. LeBron is a great player. He isn't a tier above everyone as most would have you believe.

I think he was saying Lebron is a more complete package as far as facilitating and such... He did say jordan was the greatest scorer...

Completely mis-leading thread title. As soon as I open up the link and saw the headline "could be best" and then read the article, it's clear that Pippen is saying Lebron has the chance at the end of the day to be the best ever. I don't think anyone would disagree with that statement.

Whoa, not trying to mislead, they've been talking about this all day on ESPN. He said Jordan greatest scorer, but Lebron "may be greatest player to ever play." He's not talking about the future, he is talking about right now. Doesn't matter to me, just surprised it wasn't discussed here

Let's let Lebron win one, and then two championships before even mentioning him with Jordan, Magic or Bird. Those three guys have more class in their little fingers than Lebron will ever have.

Just like the media, I see pippen has a short memory and is just speaking in the moment.

Lebron has shown up in the clutch in his days in Cleveland.

And Jordan was way more then just the best scorer to that offense.

Don't get me wrong, MJ was and is the greatest. But LeBron could by all means get to his level someday.

I agree with Pippen honestly the Jordan love is sickening. LeBron doesn't have the resume as Jordan so as of now Jordan is the G.O.A.T. but I think LeBron is the better player. If I went through and graded their games I would score LeBron higher then Jordan. Being better and having a better career are two different things. I think LeBron is better I think Jordan has had the greatest career of any basketball player to date. Does the fact I think LeBron is better will mean his career will be better who knows.
