Those are pretty arbitrary cutoffs there, don't you think? I love interesting stats, but can't we just praise LeBron's performance without comparing it to another set of numbers (especially a performance so different from his own)?

I really don't care about the best 37-point games in NBA history in which the player had at least three rebounds and an assist. Just give me the damn stat line of the game and I'll compare it to something that actually makes sense.

How about this? LeBron had what will go down as one of the best playoff performances in an elimination game, ever, last night. Makes a bit more sense than the 45/15/5 club, lol.

Not blaming you for the stat BTW. Just the wacky sports media.

Bout time Lebron. Ill give you your first 5 years. You have finally stopped being a Prima Donna, KD is hard work and going to smack you in the mouth about it, if you don't win this year. Time to toughen up and take it, your the best player in the game, prove it.

Most of those people aren't talking about his stats even though it's so easy to ignore that.

So basically I'm wanting to get opinions on this.. Is LeBron James the best player in the NBA? I'm talking best all around basketball player, the one guy you would build around, etc.

Keep in mind a few things.. I want your answers to be reasonable, I don't need a bunch of people who know nothing about the game to be posting crap

Also, the debate isnt about who has most rings, I mean you wouldn't say a guy like Robert Horry is better than Barkley or Malone would you? So if your only argument is rings keep it off here.

And lastly a game lasts longer than 5 seconds, so I also don't wanna hear about who made the most game winning shots this season, a game is 48+ minutes long and involves a TEAM effort..

                  Re: The LeBron James Thread

Lebron's been the best player for the last couple years it's just that Kobe fans were spoiled into thinking otherwise. There were even a few overzealous Dirk/Mavs fans claiming Dirk was better just because they won the championship. Dirk performed better in the most important 6 games of last season, but reality is it was just for 6 games. Right now #1 isn't a question.

LeBron has been a top 2 player in the league for the last 4-5 seasons. Especially if your not talking about rings. What he brings to a team offensively and defensively is only matched by a few (Dwight Howard comes to mind).

Right I agree with you, only I'd go as far to say he's been the best since his first MVP, maybe the season before that, which some people felt he was robbed of MVP that year, nobody seems to realize how much he meant to that Cavs team, nobody since Jordan has made that kind of one man difference to his team, maybe nobody ever, I mean from best team in the league 2 years running, the Cavs lose 1 man and suddenly are not only the worst team in the league but break the record for most consecutive losses ever in a season, even the Bulls were a playoff team when Jordan left, he makes everybody better, that's what's so important about his game.

I'm not trying to say the rings aren't important, obviously he needs to win before he retires, but I hate when people come in with Kobe is better or even Dirk is better, and then 'rings' is the only explanation they have as to why they are better..

LeBron has been the best player since the 2007-2008 season. And in all honesty he should probably have 4-5 MVPs by now. Voting fatigue kept him from getting it last year. He will be the best player for the next 4-5 years as well. He's not even in his "prime" years yet, which is scary.

He's #2 for me at this point. I'd take KD for a couple reasons over LeBron, the biggest being age, KD is 4 years younger. I also think KD's game will transition better as he ages than LeBron's, who relies heavily on his athleticism. When that starts to fade, I don't think he will be as good as KD when he loses a step.

At this point I'd give LeBron the edge in defense and passing and KD the edge in scoring, shooting, free throw shooting and the willingness and ability to take and make clutch shots. They're both excellent rebounders for their position. It's a close call, but it's KD for me. I can understand someone saying they'd take LeBron, but it's really ONLY between those 2 imo.

27 is most definitely a prime year. He's got another 3-4 years at his current level, before father time takes it's cruel toll on him. You'd have to assume the insane minutes he plays, as well as the way he plays those minutes, will wear him down some in the near future.

I agree about Durant be a little better of a shooter than LeBron, but not scorer, he's the most efficient scorer in the league, and has been quoted saying he could when the score title any time he wanted, and after watching this years playoffs if you don't believe that you're crazy.. People say he's only efficient and only has high FG% because he takes lots of dunks and lay-ups, but that's because nobody can stop him! I'd shoot from 2 feet away if nobody could stop me from getting there too, and they are both great rebounders, but after watching LeBron out rebound most bigs in the playoffs I have to take him, and him being able to be so affective even playing the PF position makes me believe he'll do just fine when he ages, and use his strength and post more, he's literally played every position in the NBA other than Center and been the best at it..
