I mean I guess I see what you two are saying, I just think that there's something else out there in addition to this. For instance, people like Matt Bonner, Aaron Affalo, and DeQuan Cook are there literally just to hit the three ball, and do just fine. Better than the Heat's have been recently, anyway.

Honestly I think it would help just to rest LeBron more. This would work wonders because not only does it keep him fresh for the 4th quarter (Spoelstra did a horrible job managing his minutes game 2) but also gets more shots for the teammates, getting them a chance to get in rhythm.

But mostly, I just get tired of seeing LeBron having all these 42+ minute playoff games with 1 minute rest in the 4th quarter, then people expecting him to make clutch shots when he's exhausted. I'd be interested to see how LeBron and the Heat shooters in general would do if he only were to play 37 minutes in a game. I think we'd be surprised.
People keep suggesting the Heat rest Jame's as if they have a bench to go to. They don't, and they wont with all the money they have tied up. That's the consequence of playing alongside two other franchise players, you're limited in your bench options.

With Bosh out James is going to have to play 43+ minutes a night if Miami's going to have any hope of advancing past the conference finals. Rest wouldn't make LeBron a repectable closer, though. The fatigue thing is just an excuse, and a bad one at that. Everybody plays more minutes come playoff time. Dirk averaged 5 more minutes per game in last seasons post season than he did in the regular season. LeBron? 2.

If Haslem is hitting anywhere near his normal % from mid range... the offense is a more productive.

I think they should play Jones a lot more...he's he most accurate out of anyone...and I think they would LOVE for Miller to return to his normal game...that was the plan when they signed him lol
Haslem finished the season shooting 39% from 16-23ft. Same as LeBron, and about a percentile or two below the numbers he typically hovers around. And Jones is bad at everything except shooting. Miller can rebound at least, and Battier can play defense. Jones offers nothing they don't, but is an even worse all around player.

None of Miami's bench players are going to make much of a difference.

It's hard to play significantly more minutes per game in the playoffs when you played a ton in the regular season.

Nice attempt at skewing the stats, though.

LeBron played about 4 minutes more per game than Dirk in the playoffs.

Compound that with the fact LeBron is also taking more minutes at Power Forward as well.

The past two games against the Pacers he played pretty much the entire 2nd half.

How many TDs did Lebron have against us? Did he go Hakeem Nicks on us in that game?

Good point, especially paired with HMcCoy's post. And that's what I'm wondering (should've quoted that post too). Spot up shooters are rhythm shooters. I think it's easier to come off the bench cold, catch and shoot a big shot than it is to play a ton without getting the ball much. Hard to be mentally ready to knock it down on a consistent basis.

Battier is definitely right for that team... I retract any connection of him to this. I don't know if I'd count Haslem just bc he's a 4/5 player. It should be easier for him to know when a potential shot is coming his way than a wing hanging out around the 3 point line.

EDIT: If I'm not mistaken, Miller, Chalmers, and Jones have all had career years from 3 between the last couple of years...

They just aren't converting on what a lot of the time are wide open opportunities lately...
The only true stand still and knock down shooter the Heat have is James Jones, and he gets the least playing time of all of those guys they try to have play that role. Mike Miller was a scorer who could get really hot, but he was never a guy who was gonna come in and knock down some stand still three's. Mike Bibby wasn't a guy like that and that's why he didn't work out doing that last year. Battier has his corner three's but other than that he's not much of a knockdown guy.

Like I said some posts back....

Miller was brought on with the intention of him playing his brand of ball....MIA used even let him run point in some stretches...either Spo decided to cut this off, or it's the fact he's oft injured and his skill have diminished something awful...(I'm guessing the latter, watch dude try and make a layup tonight)

And he actually started off the first half of the season hot converting open looks...

Battier is in the perfect position

This is true about Miller too. But even at his norm I think he'd just be a great bench player. Don't get me wrong, that could be HUGE for a team like this. But for him to play his game, it'd really have to be playing with either Wade or James out of the game, occasionally as a bail out option on the wing.

But yeah, I was definitely one who thought he'd be a perfect fit when they signed him... don't think he's been healthy since.

But in regards to Miller. I miss the old him. Doesn't get to showcase his ball handling skills anymore.
