Not to be naive, but I'm sure even if they talked about it LeBron was considering all proposal even though he may have been leaning strongly towards Miami.

LeBron and his crew making teams wait for his choice was very selfish. He completely hand-cuffed Cleveland no big name FA/HC was going to sign without LeBron being aboard. Now with that said they had 6-7years to bring in a big FA and ended up with Mo Williams.

This should be a warning to all GM's/FO types. It's great to keep your mega/super star involved, but at the end of the day you better have the ****s to make the decisions you think are best even if said mega/super star isn't thrilled. Being a great player and/or having great hoops IQ doesn't make you a player GM.

Handcuffed? Nobody was gonna sign with CLE. Let's not act as if that was gonna happen.

Your other points I agree with.

I agree completely. Don't let your superstar have complete reigns of your team if you're Gilbert. I get it, with Lebron and his "boys", he did what he thought he had to do to keep them all happy. In the end, it bit him in the butt.

It's been discussed to death, that Lebron had say in all moves that went on. If Gilbert/Ferry/etc would have made the decisions and brought in talent that they saw fit, instead of running everything through BronBron, then things may have turned out a lot different.

I don't like the fact that he didn't let his team know that he wasn't coming back, when he KNEW that he wasn't. I mean, don't leave them scrambling, show a little appreciate for what they tried to do.

Granted, they didn't do a LOT, but who's to say that it wasn't partially because LBJ was making some decisions? It's a no win situation really.

I'm past it, but still think Shaq hit it on the head with why people are so mad, and wanting him to fail. I don't care that it's Shaq's opinion, but that opinion is shared by MANY throughout the Sports World.

lol man this is gonna be debated for the length of this guys years in the nba

truth is, there is no loyalty in sports anymore

a guy can shuck and jive a team if he wants to, and organizations do it all the time without all of this ruckus

they treat players like assets, they trade people's families all over the country, they trade them and let them get the news from ESPN

shoot, Mitch Kupchak went on tv and held a press conference saying we're gonna trade Shaq and keep Kobe without even talking to him

He did, but only because they allowed themselves to get there so I'm not sympathetic at all. Once again at any point they could have moved on from LeBron or traded him when he refused to sign another contract.

That is the part I don't understand why people don't see it. No player was looking to sign with Cleveland. How could you expect LeBron to stay? Don't get me wrong I didn't expect him to leave (days before the decision). But as the days passed leading up to it. The more I thought the Bulls and the Heat were the best places for LeBron to win "Right now". Even if he would have stayed with Cleveland this year. He would of most likely came up short again.

I have been saying this since the decision. Why should a player be expected to show loyalty/class when organizations only show loyalty/class when it's in their best interest? This game is about self interest just like the labor situation in football and the one that's coming in the NBA. The smart entity will look out for itself in business.

Good read on the Lebron media coverage imo
EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

                    Re: The LeBron James Thread

And the circle of life for this topic continues.

Personally I couldn't care less what Shaq says, even if I agree with him. That's not really the point. You guys can keep arguing about the events of last year... more power to you. I just don't understand some still wanting to group people that criticize Lebron as people upset that he left the Cavs. There are SO MANY other reasons to be mad at this dude, most of these same people still spitting the same argument about "why can't he go where he wants, it's a business, etc" even agree that there are plenty of reasons to be mad at dude. And there are plenty of examples of others that have left that haven't gotten any kind of reaction.

I'm just saying, if you're cool with him after some of the crap he's pulled, then that's fine. If someone else isn't, that's fine too. If you want to have a discussion about it, then discuss what people are actually mad about. It's just getting really annoying to see the same crap over and over again while the legitimate points of James deserving all the heat he gets are being ignored because the people that want to defend him know they can only defend that same tired argument.

Not even OSUFan is posting about being mad that he left Cleveland and went to Miami so it's about time to bury that argument and move onto a new one... or just move on.

I think that's the answer at this point. Its been a full season of NBA and the fact that we are still beating that dead horse is pretty lackluster.

I think it's great that we are still having the conversation because the story hasn't been told completely yet. The first season isn't finished yet. The Lebron haters aren't as vocal because his decision is proving to be the right one. No need to move on...

The only thing that is dumb is when guys post in a thread saying that they can't stand the fact that the thread is continuing and the conversation is still going.

Or the notion that anybody that has anything negative to say about LeBron and the Heat are just Haters that are going to hate or they're supposed to just shut up and enjoy the greatness despite the fact people saying repeatedly since the time this whole thing went south that LeBron is the best player in the game. That LeBron and those guys can ball. That plays that they've made throughout the season and in this postseason have been "sick as hell" or "cold blooded" or "a thing of beauty." People have given them they're due when they've clicked, but they've also continued to voice they're issues with the team which they're allowed to do. You don't like it? Don't come in here and read it, but you got no place telling people that they basically should just bow at LeBron's feet and praise him for his greatness and not make any comments about things that he does that bother them. I'd say that qualifies for that list of dumb things that you've somehow narrowed down to one.
