Yeah like realistically isn't Moses Malone like one of the first real high school to pro guys? There were others but he was probably one of the first real successful ones

Yup...he was the first that I can recall. I don't think there was another until KG.

And again, people older than you will say Chamberlain or Russell or Kareem are better than Jordan.

And this will go on forever, kids in 10 years will say X player is better than LeBron.

So in this case, what's the difference?

And we're still waiting on this list too.

Muhammad Ali is the GOAT, but was he better than Tyson was? Idk they never got the chance to box each other.. Same applies here.

From my experience, this couldn't be further from the truth.

You know, this logic is used a lot but what's funny is, it's not like these people are all dead or something where they can't speak up for themselves. People that got to see Chamberlain and Russell and all these guys aren't automatically saying that they were better than Jordan as people like to generically suggest in order to imply that the reason Jordan is held in the light that he is because we grew up watching him. My uncles and father are all old enough to have seen Oscar, Wilt, Russell, all of those guys (and no not one of them are from Chicago) and they'll all tell you Jordan is the best they've seen. Let people using that logic tell it though and they automatically believe the guys from their time are better than Jordan.

Lol agreed BringTheHeat, the fact that people prefer things from their generation isn't some groundbreaking logic you just came up with...this is true for a lot of things far beyond sports....music, movies etc...

My grandfather still raves about some damn Sam Jones every time I see him....doesn't mean every person ever does it, but I definitely agree...

.....If you say so my man.

I just kind of find that line of thinking a bit baffling that's all, especially in this particular case.

Yeah, I'm not sure how anyone could be called the GOAT by that logic, b/c there is always going to be someone who they won't have the chance to compete against, lol

exactly , I can say Jordan is the best ever, but it is my opinion until we actually have a time machine that can put LeBron at his prime against Jordan in his prime and we can all watch it as a pay-per-view event. (actually I would rather pay to watch Prime Jordan vs Prime Kobe, much more similar styles would make it feel more apples to apples)
