    Re: The LeBron James Thread

LA and NY would be 2 of the worst places for him to go simply because of the bandwagon part. If he goes to the Lakers, besides just the fans, you know so many hollywood celebrities and the media will suddenly be the biggest Laker fan on the planet. Even in NY, similar thing happens too.

What would it do for his legacy if he went to one of the less successful markets and brought them their first ever(or just first in a long time) championship? Like a Milwaukee, New Orleans, Utah, Portland, Toronto, Minnesota? Would that be bigger for his legacy than if he were to go and win a championship somewhere like Philly, LA, NY (sure, Philly/NY haven't won in decades either, but they're still up there in terms of "THE markets" in the NBA)

Small market or not, just winning three championships with 3 different teams, casts, coaches, would be a big accomplishment and reflect strongly on his versatility as a player.

Pop all in on making a case for Spurs to LeBron

This is what I want to see above anything else. LeBron + Kawhi + Pop

I can’t see LeBron going to the Spurs. There is too much structure in that organization he’d have to conform to. Don’t know if he could play for Pop either. Too much ego between the two of them to really mesh.

            Re: The LeBron James Thread

Maybe so, I don’t know that LeBron has to like his coach or Pop like his players for either side to understand what’s at hand and go out and get the job done. I think we’ve saw that from both of them over the years. I think both of them have a lot of respect for the other.

On the other hand, it’s been said that LeBron has said he wants to play off ball more moving later into his career. I think he wanted to do that with Kyrie, but the kid couldn’t even read the pick and roll and his passes were usually late. Saw lots of back cutting from LeBron this season and lots of him working from the high post in the playoffs. Would be an interesting look to see that unfold.

A bit of hyperbole to say he can’t read a pick and roll.

He’s a bit better now, but he struggled with that in Cleveland. Not so much reading the play in general, because he can score off a pick and roll about as well as anyone. But he couldn’t read the passes. Not quick enough at least. A bit like Kobe in that regard, where a easy pass was there but maybe he thought he still had a chance to score so he took an extra dribble or two to see if he had space, but that time the pass was no longer there.

I think it’s a big reason they mostly abandoned the LeBron pick and roll. He was wasting all that energy setting screens to not get the ball on his rolls. Therefor they basically went to a, whenever Kyrie gets his iso LeBron gets a rest, where Bron spent a lot of time in the corner watching. Which worked fine, because even if LeBron didn’t want the shot he was a huge decoy, and because Kyrie was so great going one on one.

Kyrie/Horford P&R was a lethal combination. He reads it just fine.

I just said he had gotten better at it. And kudos to Stevens for bringing it out of him even more, like he’s done with every point guard he’s coached now. But he was in fact bad at reading those passes in Cleveland. That was his biggest criticism, even here on OS, during that stretch. They pretty much abandoned it all together in favor of Kyrie being the player who set the screen and just ran off switches.

Kyrie's tunnel vision was extremely frustrating to watch when he was in Cleveland.

Ya never know. His way has only worked 3 times. Maybe with the insanely high work load of a season he just had will make him reevaluate everything. Unless he forces his way into Boston, I don't see a better fit for him to win a title than SA with Kawhi. The lure of Philly has worn off imo, they're still so young. But IDK, maybe he really wants to stay in the East.

It’s one of those things where it’s easy for us to sit behind a computer/phone and say an NBA player “can’t read passes quick enough” as if we have the answer or can do better.

Just a pet peeve of mine when I hear comments like these from the Armchairs, lol.
