Re: Is Derrick Rose a top 5-10 player in the NBA over the next decade?
Bulls fans on RealGm were telling me he'd be better than Wade by Christmas...I was like, what happened to Paul, Williams, Nash, Rondo...You know, all the point guards better than him at the moment!
Still my 3rd favorite player to watch(next to Dwyane and Durant)Comment

You're right. I haven't seen him play nowhere as much as you have, but when I was able to watch him, he didn't do it for me. Some players...you see it right away. I never got that from Rose. I don't see that X factor that separates him by a wide margin to make him a top 5-10 player. Not at being a point, defense, etc. Right now (and I thought I'd never say this), Rondo shows me way more "star power" and that's with some major limitations to his game. I like Rose. A tremendous athlete and his midrange game is filthy. Maybe if he goes more into a scoring mentality.....
I guess we're going to have to disagree. I hope he proves me wrong, though.Comment

D-Rose can score at will.....His biggest problem is he tries to keep his shatty teammates involved instead of just taking over.
Hes Lebron James only 6'3 and PG.
Plus, I think your gonna see just how bad Vinny was as a coach."Good music transcends all physical limits, it's more then something you hear, it's something that you feel, when the author, experience, and passion is real" - Murs (And this is for)Comment

Re: Is Derrick Rose a top 5-10 player in the NBA over the next decade?
Gonna stick to the original question (looking at the best PG moving forward), if CP3 comes back healthy I don't see how anyone can be picked over him. Before he got hurt he was in conversations with Lebron. Even if he doesn't I'd have to go with PGs that carry their weight scoring but also setting up the offense, etc. I think Rose will be better at that as he gets more experience and better players around him, but I still don't think he'll be better than Williams who I wouldn't consider old at this point. I will take Rose over Rondo moving forward though, but there's a strong chance Rondo could prove me wrong. I need him to get that shot in order and at this point I have more faith in Rose rounding out the holes in his game, but Rondo is a student of the game so I'm sure he'll work on it.
Also, I personally wouldn't put him at the top but along with Evans, Jennings has to be in the discussion too.Comment

I agree that his defense needs work but I can't question his play making ability as he doesn't really have a post player or spot up shooter to work with. Now this is where me and you will have to agree to disagree. I think that he does have that X Factor that you mention and is one of the best scoring point guards in the game today. Definitely one of the best point guards at finishing at the rim. When he's able to go draw contact against Dwight and finish, how can his scoring being questioned?
Also look at his Playoff totals. 27 PPG and 7 dimes. Also from March until the Bulls got knocked out the Bulls approach change. Vinny finally gave Rose the keys and said do what you do. In that stretch he was absolute scoring machine. His ability to also go full speed, stop, and go back to full speed instantly is not matched by many.
Is he a top 5 player now? No.
Is he a top 10 player now? No, but I think it's close. He's hovering somewhere around there. Definitely the potential is there for both.Comment

I don't want to take anything away from Rondo because he'll continue to do what he's doing no matter what. However, he has KG, Pierce and one of the best pure shooters in the game. Rose has?

I guess remembering how AI came into the league has skewed my vision. He had garbage around him under a crap coach and ripped into the league his rookie year. I figure since you think Rose will be a top 5 player, it's okay to bring up Iverson.
I didn't question his scoring ability. What I said was misconstrued. What I was trying to say is maybe if he embraced more of a scoring mentality full-time, he can be that top 5 player. I don't think he gets there as anything other than. That is why he isn't hovering anywhere near a top 10, IMO. But like you said, the potential is there.Comment

I guess this is assuming that no player over the next 10 years that comes out of the draft will become a superstar?[NYK|DAL|VT]

Rose's best games did come against Rondo in the playoffs last year.
Rose just has speed, strength, and intangibles I dont think the other PG's have.
I guess we will see how good he is when the Bulls supporting cast takes some shape
The bulls have no post presence or perimeter presence and they found a way to make the playoffs.Comment
