Actually, Mr Stern should have a talk first with the agent of the three guys first about the whole orchestration of this mess.. Stern should never have allowed this to be done.. This whole thing smacks of "player collusion" which sets a very bad tone for future FA's..

I need someone to explain this to me as Im not understanding this entire collusion thing. So LeBron, Wade and Bosh cant discuss where they want to play? Im not being smart, I really dont get the specifics of how collusion works obviously.

In the case of players' collusion, it would be possibly tanking games or seasons in order to get on the same team I would assume.

I understand LBJ quitting in the playoffs, but tanking games/seasons to play together? Why would they need to do that when they could sign together anyway even if they all won championships?

          That's ridiculous imo.

Maybe, but unless I'm reading Dan Gilbert completely wrong he is going in that direction with his comments. He says LeBron quit in Game 6 vs Orlando and games 2,4,5,and 6 this year vs Boston.

Where did you read this? If you are referring to the open letter he wrote then I didn't get anything like that out of it at all. To me the open letter basically just said LBJ is a traitor to his home town and is a coward for not wanting to work for championships. That was my interpretation of what he said in the open letter anyway though I haven't seen anything other than that so has he mentioned something else?

I don't really see why any of them would have needed to tank games or why LBJ would quit. They all had the ability to be free agents this summer no matter what and in LBJ's case if he really wants to win (which at this point I don't see how you can say he doesn't) quitting just wouldn't make sense. Especially given his ego...I mean if you can win a championship in Cleveland then you are doing something and it may have made Cleveland a more attractive place for free agents. Unless he just absolutely wanted out of the city and thought his image would be more tarnished if he left Cleveland after a championship. That is something for the conspiracy theorists though, not me.

"He quit," Gilbert said. "Not just in Game 5, but in Games 2, 4 and 6. Watch the tape. The Boston series was unlike anything in the history of sports for a superstar."

That is something I hadn't thought of, but is a very good point.

Do FA's, people on the trading block, or even draft picks think to themselves "If I were ever on Cleveland have some success and then leave will I be scorned this badly by the fans and even management?". The success factor may not even play into it. I don't know how close NBA players are with each other, but in other sports it does seem that there is a fraternity of sorts among players. They may see it as Gilbert did Lebron wrong and scorn that franchise themselves. Pure speculation of course.

                        Ah I see

Harsh words coming from someone who tried so hard to get that same player back on his team though.

It is kind of messed up that he didn't tell these organizations his decision before he went on air though. That is the only problem I really have with this process. It would have been the right thing to do to call each organization (or have his agent do it) just before he went on for the interview. I liken it to recruiting a player in college. The player should call up any coaches to notify them of his decision before it becomes public.

At the same time, I wonder what all the other players in the league, being competitors, think about those 3 getting together and LeBron doing this ESPN thing and all of this hype. Has to make some of them angry as fellow competitors. We've already seen bitter tweets from Roger Mason Jr. and Mo Williams.

I think the LBJ situation is a once in a decade thing. I don't know what Gilbert is gonna do, but he seems hell bent on taking the offensive and putting the "Cleveland Curse" on LeBron. Because this situation is so unique, and with the amount of input and how much pull LeBron had in the organization (Gilbert enabled it), I'm not sure the other players are gonna relate to LeBron.

I just visited Mo Williams twitter page and it didn't seem bitter at all (http://twitter.com/mogotti2)

Also visited the other guys page and there wasn't much at all (http://twitter.com/moneymase).

Of course I've never used twitter before so I certainly may be failing in looking for all of this.

As for players in general though they all want to win and understand everyone else does as well. I don't remember there being any kind of outcry over the big 3 in Boston in basketball a couple years ago so it doesn't seem like this would be any different.

I can see the Cavs being the 8th seed and miami being the 1st seed next year easily. What if they cavs some how beat them? Would that be the biggest upset in history? This of course could easily not happen but what if it did?
