An eleven championship winning coach is not going to try something different in his last year on the bench, so CP3 would have to make the adjustments. And I agree that it may be a lateral move as skilled bigs are hard to come by and I don't see NO taking Sasha, Luke, and Mbenga for CP3. The Lakers as currently constructed have beaten all of the teams in their way with dynamic point guards, so they are less valuable than you might think. Outside of Jordan, every championship is anchored by a good big man.

Re: Chris Paul wants out?
Brankles, don't see the need for Jameer in New Orleans.
Definitely starts with VC's expiring and getting rid of Okafor's deal.
The rest will probably just be fill ins. Added picks, Pietrus. Hornets need shooters so Redick too maybe, but he can't be traded till Dec. 15.Comment

One situation is a little more balanced, the other seemingly gets destroyed by defensive minded bigs and seems more like an all-star game situation.Comment

Re: Chris Paul wants out?
I hope the whole Lebron thing doesn't start a chain reaction where every superstar starts pouting and ends up playing on a super stacked team. The league will start getting too top heavy real soon.
As for Paul on the Lakers? Being a Lakers fan I would love to have a top 2 point guard but not if they have to give up other key pieces (specifically their forwards or a Bynum). A true point guard is the least important part in the triangle offense, and what makes the Lakers so good is their size/length/depth/skill combination in the paint.
They wouldn't be gaining much value in the offense by replacing Fisher/Blake for CP3.Comment

Re: Chris Paul wants out?
Option A - VC/Gortat/Bass for CP3/Okafor
Option B - VC/Gortat/Pietrus for CP3/Okafor
Option C - VC/Jameer for CP3/Okafor
So the question is... do the Hornets want Douglas/Wilson Chandler/Eddy Curry (all expiring) AND keep Okafor and his huge contract?
Or do they want VC (expiring)/Gortat (3 years left) and one or the other of Pietrus (expiring) or Bass (2 years) AND get rid of Okafor and his huge contract? Or do they want VC and Jameer?
The Magic are offering a much sexier deal, imo. The only downside to trading with the Magic is that their team might be better than they want them to be next season and hurt their lottery chances.Comment

Re: Chris Paul wants out?
I don't know if that'll be enough for NO, but if we can get CP3 and somehow hold onto Gallo and Randolph...
I'm already satisfied with the current roster and our flexibility going forward. But give me CP3 for two young players, the Ham Burgler, and a draft pick. Diminishes our cap room next year, but I think I'd be ok with that since there's no guarantee of us getting Melo.Comment

Re: Chris Paul wants out?
So you're gonna have to find a way to add like a Posey or especially an Okafor. I have a feeling that the Hornets don't want to ship him out West, so the East will be their preferred trading partner.
Also, do the Knicks have any draft picks to trade?Last edited by XFactah416; 07-22-2010, 11:49 AM.Comment

Re: Chris Paul wants out?
I was just thinking Atlanta would be a good fit. Josh Smith, Jeff Teague, and Jamal Crawford for Chris Paul, Darius Songalia, and Marcus Thornton.
Atlanta would have a lineup of:
Paul/Johnson/Williams/Horford/Pachulia"Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

Re: Chris Paul wants out?
He's either staying in NO's or will get traded before the deadline or even next year, probably not to any of the teams on his supposed list. There are plenty of other teams out there with more resources than teams on his list.
He has zero leverage. Unless he refuses to play he will not be going anywhere. He has two years left on his deal, you're not goin anywhere bud.Comment
