He has failed in all three phases.

We both agree Bosh isn't a first option, but that hardly excuses Colangelo from thinking he made impact moves as a GM. He's failed miserably.

It is Toronto though, I give him that.
Bargiani is a decent pick. That draft had no other bigs worth anything.
Derozan is a pick with tons of potential.
Calderon and Jack are solid PG combo.
He brought in various bigs to compliment Bosh's weaknesses from Reggie Evans to Kris Humpries to Jermaine O'Neal.

The Raptors were 47-35 with TJ Ford and Anthony Parker 4 years ago.

The team stayed the same until the last two years but acquired more talent in FA (surprising for Toronto).

Raptors go 40-42 and Bosh missed 12 games.....some are saying he quit on his team.....I am sorry but I am putting this on Bosh not the GM.

Colangelo failed in all three phases???? Come on. Impact moves? Turkoglu was a huge sign, too bad Hedo decided to smoke, drink and eat instead of focus on basketball. But who else was coming to make an impact in Toronto.....every star they have had has left.

Those moves put me half to sleep my friend.

I would go through and describe how deficient each of those players are one by one but I'll just stop here.

Dude was trying to build the Suns of the East with a little Spurs mixed in.

Failed because 90% of those players are nothing but bootleg Suns and Spurs players.

Bosh is an *** for quitting. The fact that greater and lesser players also quit doesn't excuse him. I don't know how much his injury played into that, but he did quit. Toronto loves hard-workers; it's unfortunate that these past few months will invalidate Bosh's work for the past 6 and a half years, but that's gonna happen.

Colangelo shouldn't try to deflect the blame though. Despite it being Toronto he did not do well in his other work as GM. He made the wrong trades, signed marginal players and tied up the cap by giving them bad long-term contracts. Well that doesn't matter, BC doesn't know how to control spending anyway.

All he's doing now is using Bosh as an excuse for his crappy work.

Okay. So Colangelo is just a failure in your opinion. I don't see what else he was supposed to do. Draft better? Get free agents to come to Toronto better than Jarrett Jack and Hedo?

If I had to chose who would be easier to replace and win I would take replacing Bosh over replacing a GM in Toronto. Because it don't matter who is the GM it matters that the best player wants to be in Toronto and busts his *** for the city and team.

            Is this a serious post?

You have the #8, #7, #1, and #9 picks and end up with Rafael Araujo, Villanueva (who is traded for TJ Ford then JO then Matrix the latter two well past their primes) Bargs, and Derozan?

            That's Clippers level drafting.

If you draft the player immediately after Toronto's pick (no selecting players way down the draft who surprised, but realistic options that Toronto had) you get Iggy, Frye, Aldridge, and Jennings. That's not a championship roster, but it's in the playoffs with 50 wins and probably the second round in the East.

            Yeah about that good drafting...

And seriously Turkoglu? There were three players on this board defending that signing last year. There are three Raptors fans who consistently post on this board. That was an awful signing and everyone knew it.

The draft? Come on. He missed with Araujo

But the players he has brought in like Garbojosa, Parker, Jack, Delfino etc.... These are players he can get.

Hedo was the best player that was going to come to Toronto. He got him. Come on you can't fault him for over paying. This is Toronto! No American born superstars are going there.

Colangelo won executive of the year turning around a terrible team post VInce. Now the team just went 40-42 and has a young team with a decent cap position (which doesn't matter because of the FA situation in Toronto).

I would hardly call Colangelo a failure.

Yeah and somehow Dumars was stupid enough to give CV a big deal.

The guy has value, although his game has regressed badly.

BC didn't draft Araujo, but yeah that was a terrible pick.

You can do other things with cap space but BC will probably never know how that works.

Yeah but there were rumblings of problems in the locker room and how Bosh's attitude changed.

Derozen is by far the best pick they've made and it's still at "eh" level.

Anthony Parker, Jose Garbajosa and T.J. Ford we're huge that year. Even Rasho Nesterovic had a great impact on the team as the starting centre. All we're absolutely integral to the Raptors winning the Atlantic.
