Re: Carmelo Anthony Traded To New York

I knew of exactly one thought when the Melo Knicks rumors started, especially when Amare signed there

D'antoni's got his Shawn Marion circa 2005

His greatest years were with D'Antoni and were at the 26-29 range, and both share the same month for birthdays, May.

Now where is D'antoni's Steve Nash to complete his second trio?

Shawn Marion and Carmelo Anthony are nothing alike.

I just have to say that I find it funny that dudes are jumping all on OSU for his thoughts on this and talking about how he disagrees with this thing and him being more upset than Denver fans when the OS basketball forum has spent the last two years being more upset over the LeBron James Cleveland Era than Cavs fans. I mean, if this is the argument we're going to throw out there against him.

He's not upset, he voiced his disagreement with the deal, a lot of Knicks fans in here are talking crazy and acting like this has locked up a championship for them in a few years and are completely underrating a lot of guys on they're team and what they'd mean to a championship team. Yes you need superstar players, but there's a difference between a good role player and some bum you're able to sign for cheap to fill out your roster. If Zeke is running the show again why the hell do people actually think the Knicks are going to hit the home runs that they pretty much are going to have to hit from here on out to get that ring?

Word on those 2 is Marion at his best is not as good as Melo at his best. Marion was just more consistently motivated. Shawn Marion before D'Antoni came along was not like he was after he came along.

D'Antoni may not like defense or the bench, but his offensive mind is top notch and can get stars to play to their maximuim capabilities. I've seen what he could do in Phoenix with a multiple stars as Stat was a part of his first trio

Well on the same note Knicks fans have every right to feel like they have a great future...

How many times have we heard "they cant possibly make any moves to get better", and its happened...money finds a way everytime..and they have two talented young stars to build off of

While you cant make c-ship plans for this team yet, it makes just as little sense to pigeon hole them to mediocracy..

Pretty sure most Knick fans on here have said they dont have a championship team here right now. I dont know where you are coming from saying Knick fans are already declaring themselves champions. I havent seen one yet. I think its fair that Knick fans can be optimistic about the future though.

This is a good point. Some of us have come out as if they can't do anything with they're roster with this deal in place. I'm not saying that they can't do anything, I just think if the plan of all this is landing CP3 or D-Will, the more likely event to come is a failure.

Man if some of ya'll don't stop with this "There wasn't a guarantee he would sign in the Offseason with us" BS. Where else was he gonna sign at? There were/was no other competition out there once he made it known he would only sign an extension with the Knicks. This ain't the same situation as the Heat nor would have it been because he wasn't going to sign anywhere else. Sheesh.

As for their future, they really don't have one since they got $40 Mil tied up in these 2 players and once that new CBA comes(which we ALL know is going lower the cap)they ain't gonna be able to sign a 3rd Superstar player unless they want to make "sacrifices" like the mWo did in South Beach. Matter of fact, I'll go ahead and say it right now and guarantee they will NOT sign a 3rd Superstar like CP3 or Deron or Dwight. I guaran-damn-tee it.

And if you want the Lottery Numbers for the 2013 $100 Mil Jackpot they are:

                            15 30 37 38 doo doo do do doooooooooooooo 45 47

The last time NY cleared house with a "free agency plan" that was a few years away, it didn't work.

Instead of having LeBron, Amare/Bosh, and the rest, now they have Amare, Carmelo, and not much else with a CBA up in the air.

Getting "the third" will not happen, and I'm kinda glad it wont even though I want the Knicks to do well. The NBA is being ruined with all this scripted nonsense.

The expectations have been raised for this season now. They cannot be a one and done team while if they didn't do this they could've had a expectation less 2011 playoffs
