Re: Allen Iverson : After the NBA

How bad of a teammate must Iverson have been for no players and no coaches to want to vouch for him anymore?
A guy that hated practice, couldn't put team before himself, always had off the court troubles, usually had a negative attitude and is so stubborn he'd rather retire then come off the bench.
"Iverson missed 12.5 field goals per game, most of anyone since the inception of the three point line."

Maybe it was his old age that kept teams away? Nope...

So happy this annoying ball hog is going to China, maybe he can go drink and gamble his problems away in that country.

Despite his off the court problems when it came to game time he was amazing to watch .

Wrong ! Teammates and players around the nba loved and respected AI - check your sources.

I think you misread, I said vouch for him.
On another note, if he's so well loved and respected, why didn't players publicly put pressure on their teams to bring him in?
Grant Hill is 40 and has been injury prone for most of his career, yet when he signed with the Clippers, everybody was ecstatic. Coaches LOVE having veterans on their team. Have them play a few minutes each game, give the younger players a good model of a player on the court and character off the court. Steve Nash is older then AI and he can still ball on the offensive side.

Practice, take care of your body and don't be a scum bag. Hard lessons AI may not ever learn.

Yea that makes sense being that AI haven't played pro ball in 2 years and when he did he played in Turkey, got hurt and came back to America..

The whole idea of his former teammates vouching for him to be on a NBA team while AI has not made any indication that he can still contribute at the age of 37 without playing pro ball in 2 years makes perfect sense.

He looked old in his last year with the 76era. He was basically just a jump shooter, I don't know why people forget about that. That's why most NBA teams never showed interest.

Re: Allen Iverson : After the NBA

Iverson is not ready for Nba and will never be. He wasn't ready two years ago. He's just too old and too slow. Part of it is passing time and part of it is because he didn't care about getting in shape. Although, some reports indicated he was working out with some Nba players.

However, what Pistons did was unacceptable. It all started going downhill from that point. Iverson was clearly the best player in Denver, having his career year there at one point. 'Coach' Curry should have been sent to the Arctic Pole.

His career ended the way it did beacuse of him. He wanted it to be his way or the highway and why not. I respect that although I would like that it was different.

Oh and didn't Rip vouch for him on national TV last year when they had him for a telephone interview? didn't eric snow vouch for him in the studio while analyzing games?

Nothing is black or white with Iverson, never was and never will be.

I mean who doesn't want to see Iverson playing right now. I could imagine the whole league want to see him suit up one last time. But he's got some serious problems. I'd love to see Iverson coming off the bench for a team. But that's problem the probably. Iverson should of hooked up with some trainer. I mean pull a Terrell Owens and workout in your front yard and then have a interveiw with your chest out lol.

I dont, he is not the same player he was 5 years ago when he was 32..

I got to see him suit it up one last time in a Sixer uni and I am happy. I dont want to see him chase a ring because that would contradict the type of player he was and why so many people like and relate to him.

Besides, what contender need a guard? I do not want to see him in a Laker uni and do not what to see him with a team like the Bobcats..

So the rumor is he is done. Oh well he had plenty of chances to get back in the league. Still wish he got a trainer and worked out more. Teams would have been more interested.

I think I may have mentioned this awhile ago in this thread - hopefully this isn't too redundant - but it was more off the court issues that kept him out of the league than skill. Pride was half of it but Chuck had a lot of things going on off the court.

He deserved a better going out than this but he made his own bed. I'm sure management will send him off right once the season starts. I'm certain #3 will go in the rafters.

I feel as though history will not be kind to Allen Iverson in many regards. I think it's already happening to an extent. I think those who watched him (and particularly those who enjoyed watching him) will have a certain understanding and train of thought that will likely far differ from folks too young to have experienced his career.

Surely, I think he'll have fans amongst the next generation as well. But I have a vision of it becoming easier and easier for folks to look back at his inefficiencies and draw statistical conclusions that may have some merit, but may ultimately fail to paint the entire picture.
