Re: Could Dwight Be Playing Somewhere Else Next Season?

There are some reports out there saying that Warriors would trade for Duhwight even without a guarantee of him staying beyond this year.

That is a bold move, friendo.

The hell is wrong with the Warriors? Seems like every upcoming free agent they're willing to take without an extension. The team isn't great but damn man, you going to set your franchise back with this kind of stuff.

Wonder if glass foot would be on the table. No way Ellis gets it done.

The question is set em back from what? Not even Run TMC won a championship and what have they done since then?

It's still true that it hurts building toward anything but I guess they're trying to catch lightning in a bottle and then see if they can get the main pieces to stick around if that happens. Definitely unorthodoxed but do they have much to lose?

Nah not really besides starting over with a better CAP number I guess

I mean their best team since then was the one with Baron Jrich and S Jax who took out the Mavs

Just wondering why they wouldnt package whatever said players are in a deal for some other star... I mean why wouldnt they try first

Re: Could Dwight Be Playing Somewhere Else Next Season?

The Golden State Warriors are willing to trade for Orlando Magic center Dwight Howard even if the six-time All-Star won't commit to staying with them beyond the 2011/12 season, reports Scott Howard-Cooper of NBA.com: "[The Warriors are] not backing off from risky move, source says." According to Howard-Cooper, Golden State's offer "has to be 3-4 key players," as center Andris Biedrins "has zero trade value." The NBA.com scribe speculates the Warriors would be willing to package scoring guard Monta Ellis, rookie swingman Klay Thompson, and others in a trade for Howard.
That is damn near franchise suicide right there. To give up all of that just to TRY and catch lightning in a bottle like in 07?

I think it's crazy as well. You think they would have learned from the CWebb & Picks trade for Penny Hardaway. Deja vu?

However, if you are Orlando, you have to seriously consider this.

You get rid of the Dwight "headache" and get most likely high draft picks with deep drafts coming up.

I would if I was the Magic GM. Sometimes you have to make a move to not necessarily to be 'better' BUT to be 'better off'.

If GS came to me willing to give up all that for Duhwight even with no assurances he'll stay, I'd be a damn fool to pass that up. Let GS worry about that problem because at least I solved my problem in avoiding Shaq 2.0.

Its past time for the Magic to dump this immature, unaware, non-winner onto some other sucker.... errrr team.

That's exactly what I'm saying Golden State isn't exactly a desired landing spot so you'll have a ton of cap room after Dwight bails to do what with? Go swimming Scrooge McDuck style? Dwight ain't staying in Golden State so you're giving up pieces that at least make you competitive for the forseeable future for a month and a half rental? Dwight's made up his mind where he's going if he doesn't stay in Orlando and Golden State ain't it. At least with the Nets/D-Will situation they got half of last season and all of this one to try to make moves and convince Deron why he needs to stay with them. What are the Warriors going to do with Dwight until April to keep him? They making the playoffs with him and Steph?

Yeah but you're closer to getting somewhere now than you are going that route especially if any draft picks whatsoever are included in this deal by the Warriors. You got offensive weapons right now and a defensive minded coach. Get yourself some solid defensive pieces to this squad and you're better off than having Steph, Nate, David Lee and.....

I agree. They're in that limbo spot the Wizards were in for years before the bottom fell completely out. The team isn't built well. I don't think bringing in D12 is the right move but just adding to what they have now will never get them anywhere.
