I dont get the ''he plays on a great team'' argument against players. Every MVP plays on a good team thats why they are valuable in the first place because they make their team that much better.

I get it to an extent, but people seem to almost exclude James from the discussion... that's just silly.

The rest of the Heat are pretty close to not very good outside of the 3.

Bosh and Wade have never been 100% all year. Miller/Haslem have all been hurt with them barely getting Miller back..

LBJ has clearly proved he's still the best regular season player in the world. He's been the King of the regular season for the past three years including this one.

It's because it becomes muddled as to who is more integral to a team's success. This response would make sense if it was the best player in the NBA or Player of the Year. But the MVP, right or wrong, is typically tied to someone who most impacts their teams success, which also usually leans toward winning teams.

There are a lot of players that don't have someone like James, Wade, or Bosh to fall back on if theyre having a bad night.

And then, yes, there is the matter of how this was orchestrated, which, while potentially ensuring success, made it hard to discern a guy who is that much more integral than the other 3.

On a game in, game out basis, Miami's achilles heel is in the paint. If Bosh doesn't hold his own against the better teams, they become even more vulnerable, even if Wade and James are better players.

The MVP is typically interpreted as the guy who is most instrumental to success, and with the big 3, that becomes muddled.
That's my thinking. It's not a knock on LBJ but he IMO doesn't have to carry his team as much because he has Wade. He's still the baddest man on the planet but he can have a subpar game and Wade can bail him out. I still have him 2nd, above Dirk though.

When the analyst were predicting 45 wins and a 4-5 seed for the Bulls, I knew we'd be over 50+ wins. I don't think those analysts (Jeff Van Gundy, Tim Legler, Mark Jackson) realized Derrick Rose was that good. These same fools even said if they had to pick a PG to start a team with, they'd take Rondo (What?). The reason Derrick Rose is my MVP is because, while I knew the Bulls would be a good team with the roster they had...I didn't know we'd only be at full strength for NINE games so far this year. This team is on pace to win between 55-60 games!

Let that marinate...we've only been at full strength for 9 games...and in those 9 games, Boozer wasn't in proper condition having missed all of preseason, and Noah was playing hurt.

Well, it's hard to overlook the effect Thibodeau has had. They're first in FG% against and 3rd in points allowed. Last year the Bulls led the league in rebounding but now they're playing strong team defense and it seems to be getting better and better. And getting Noah back will help that even more. One of the blessings of the injuries is that the Bulls got to rely on Kurt Thomas and Omer Asik. While not great, they can play and give the Bulls enormous depth in the front court.

It seems like the Bulls do a great job of clearing out and limiting teams to one shot. You really have to tip your cap to Thibodeau. He's a big part of what is making the Bulls work. They dont mave great individual defenders but they have guys playing really nice team defense.

Just to add on to what you said about having their lineup only 9 games, Korver hasn't really gotten on track either. But that's OK. The Bulls really need Korver in the playoffs.

Having said all that, the Bullls division isn't exactly the toughest. They're undefeated in their division but before you dismiss the Bulls as having a good record because of that, its also worth considering that the Bulls have wins against the Celtics, Heat, Spurs, Lakers, and Mavericks. The Bulls have held their own against the big boys.

Edit-- I just looked at the Bulls schedule. I was wrong about having a win against the Spurs. I was going off memory and must have confused a previous game against someone else. But moreover, much is made about the Heat getting off to a slow start. After the their first 15 games, the Bulls were 9-6. They're 25-8 since then. And they haven't been at full strength all season. The Bulls could be a product of a bad division, or they could be a snake laying in the weeds (since Boston and Miami gets all the attention).

We lost to the Spurs...but everything else is on point. Indiana has victories over the Lakers and the Heat. Milwaukee blew out the Lakers. So yeah, that weak division stuff means nothing.

Re: Who is your NBA MVP as of right now?

I will say that this recent Mavericks winning streak reaffirms my feeling that Dirk Nowitzki should be the current frontrunner for MVP. They flat out stunk without him, and he's clearly laboring to even get up and down the floor right now but he is just killing it against a pretty impressive string of opponents.

They're currently half a game up on the Lakers for 2nd in the West, and they'd probably be right there with the Spurs if they had a healthy Nowitzki and Butler for the entire season. They were only slightly behind the Spurs before those injuries.

Can you imagine finishing second in the West this year when your starting lineup is Kidd/Barea/Stevenson/Dirk/Chandler? That would be absolutely incredible. I hope for his sake that we don't find out how challenging that is because I expect that they'll make a trade within the next couple of weeks.

Tyson Chandler is the best thing that ever happened to Dirk Nowitzki

Tyson takes up a lot of stack for Dirk. In regards to rebounding and defense. Dirk doesn't seems to heel from the knee injury yet.

You know, I wish Derrick Rose could score 12 pts and the Bulls still win a game by 18 against anybody especially against the Blake Griffins. Just sayin.

Why make it seem like it can't? They were plenty of games where LeBron didn't score that much for the Cavs and they still won.

If Derrick Rose scores only 12 pts and dishes only 4 asts, the Bulls aren't beating ANYBODY by 18. They may win a game, but they will not win like that.

How can you even say that? You could say that about every single candidate that walks through the door. I can find at least 4-5 games where the Cavs blew out their opponent and LeBron didn't score more than 15 (or didn't hit more than 6 FG's). You could find games like that for every player in the MVP talks. I think people are putting too much into this whole Super Friends thing. I totally understand the logic behind it....

But again my list still stands as Rose, LeBron, Dirk, and Durant.
