        Re: Team USA 2012

I think Wall, Cousins, Irving are all officially going to participate on the Select team. Meaning they will be added to the pool but not officially to the team or anything.. I don't realistically see any of them being added to the final 12 man squad.

This will be great experience for the three, especially Cousins. Hopefully they'll use it to carve out a spot for future World Championship tournies and the next Olympics.

Jeff Zillgitt: WAS G John Wall expected to join SAC C DeMarcus Cousins on U.S. Select Team for pre-Olympic training, according to person w/info.

Marc Stein: Some Team USA scuttle: Hearing Wiz lobbying hard to get John Wall added to roster, but have to believe Kyrie Irving is the guy IF a PG added

USA Basketball director Jerry Colangelo confirms Kyrie Irving will receive an invite to participate on US Select Team. #Cavs

Interesting they are looking at Irving considering there was speculation HR was going to play for Australia( he was born there).

              Re: Team USA 2012

With Team USA dealing with a rash of injuries, USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo said he would consider re-opening the player pool for roster additions to this summer's Olympic team.
Included as a likely addition to the preliminary roster? James Harden. Via USA Today:
With injuries to prospective players for Team USA basketball at the Summer Games in London, an intriguing name has emerged for strong consideration as a late addition to the preliminary roster: Oklahoma City Thunder guard James Harden.
Harden likely will be added, possibly as soon as today, USA TODAY Sports learned from a person with knowledge of the situation who requested anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly.
Currently two Thunder players are on the Team USA roster (Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant). Twelve players will make the final London roster, with both Durant and Westbrook virtual locks to make that team. Team USA needs to turn in a 12-man roster and six alternates by June 18.
Along with Harden, players like Anthony Davis, DeMarcus Cousins, Greg Monroe, Kyrie Irving and John Wall reportedly are being considered. Davis and Harden have emerged as the two likely frontrunners for the extra slots though.
SI.com reported Wednesday that Davis was to be added to the preliminary player pool and if Harden is the other addition, that brings Team USA to 18, which is the magic number for it to hit.
Harden, this season's likely Sixth Man of the Year, averaged 16.8 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists and shot 49.1 percent from the field, 39.0 percent on 3-pointers and 84.6 percent from the foul line — all career highs while scoring a career-high 40 points against the Phoenix Suns on April 18.

                  Re: Team USA 2012

Don't really see how you could go with any roster other than:

                  1. PG Chris Paul
                  2. SG Kobe Bryant
                  3. SF LeBron James
                  4. PF Blake Griffin
                  5. C Tyson Chandler

                  6. PG Russell Westbrook
                  7. SG Dwyane Wade
                  8. SF Kevin Durant
                  9. PF Kevin Love
                  10. C Chris Bosh

                  11. PG Deron Williams
                  12. SF Carmelo Anthony

Game blouses. LBJ, Melo, and Durantula can fill in at PF if ever need be.
All you gotta do is look up in dat tree.

Blake is a terrible fit in FIBA though, this ain't an all-star team. Guys like Aldridge, Love and Bosh are waaaaaaaaaaaaaay better.

Blake would be fine. His athleticism, transition game and rebounding could be needed in spots. Aldridge is out anyway.

I wouldn't mind seeing Eric Gordon or James Harden on the final team.

Meant more for starting. Blake would be a 5-10mpg player. And with those minutes he'd be more utilized properly.

The wing depth Team USA could have with guys who can play the 2/3 and the 3/4 is insane. Lebron, Durant, Melo, Wade, Kobe, Harden, Gordon... not to mention RWB and D Will can play the 1/2. Sheeeeesh, going to be hard to narrow it down. 5 depth is definitely and issue, though.

Why do I have a feeling Cousins will get on the team.

                              Who would have thought.

Both Bosh and Love can slot the 5 with Chandler. The issue is just bigs in general.
