Well no meetings scheduled this week. Radio silence from the owners. Plenty of comments from the players. Stern will probably cancel two more weeks or more today or tomorrow.

I think everybody is waiting for the NLRB ruling against the NBA to see where it goes from there. From what was reported, that should be coming sometime this week.

People complain all we do is bash players for talking in this thread.
This is probably the only statement (well, maybe beside Ray Allen's) that unbashable, finally a player acknowledging how lucky he is to play in the NBA

Good move by Kevin Martin. Too bad there aren't any regular jobs to be had nowadays, lol.

I'm waiting for it too. This is when we find out whether we have a season or not. If the NBA wins, the Union has a hard decision to make. The owners will be even more hardlined than before and the players are looking at 50% and a flex cap at best. If the Players win, the owners will appeal and stay and that means we probably wont see basketball for a while.

So now NBA players will be filing for unemployment?

That's what I was going to say...who wants to see this go through a bunch of litigation and it drags out even longer than it might have originally and possibly still ending up in the owners corner.

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion

It's really too bad there will likely be no NBA season this year. I finally get a team that is good enough to compete for the NBA Championship and a lockout occurs.

Anyways, I don't even know who to blame for this mess anymore. One day it's the players the next it's the other. Just get a deal done!

I really think this season is shot. The players have the best deal in sports and they won't settle for a little less? I put most the blame on these players for being very selfish for a sport that isn't even one of the top 3 sports in NA, yet they still have the best agreement in sports.

I guess my only basketball will be on NBA 2K12 this year, and my Bulls will beat the Heat in that!

Well, if it goes the way of the baseball ruling in 1995 when the NLRB ruling was upheld by the federal court, then the NBA will be forced to remove the lockout via a federal court order.

Most likely, the NBA would probably file an appeal probably to the Supreme Court and if it goes the way of the baseball ruling, the stay will be denied until the appeal is accepted.

So yes, this is the union's last stand. Not sure how all this is going to turn out.

I don't think it's going to be that long if it goes the way of the baseball ruling. When Sonia Sotomayor, who was the federal judge in the case, issued a preliminary injunction against the owners it was March 31. The ruling was upheld in the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit on April 2nd.

So I don't think it'll be long. Either they'll win or they'll loose in the courts.

The idiot Shawn Marion was talking the other day about getting an unemployment check in the mail for his Grandma or relative or something.

Why is anybody related to Shawn Marion collecting unemployment checks?

Shouldnt those go to people who actually, like, need it? SMH.

Once people attain a fortune, especially those who grew up being dirt poor/perpetually broke they get accustomed to a certain style of living. Not only do you get accustomed to it, but everyone around you does. Thing is...once your money runs out...people still want to maintain that lifestyle...

To be fair, just because you're related to an athlete doesn't mean you are guaranteed anything from them, including money.

I wish all of those non family posse members would get the memo seeing as though these guys go broke within 5 years of retirement

and dice, this aint baseball man...the union already has no leverage and the decert commission already said they probably wont even help them
