Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
I think something will get done tomorrow. I'm wondering which side will make the bigger concessions as I don't see a 50/50 split happening.Originally posted by J. As we've seen before, these small *** group meeting don't mean squat and this is what happens. It's all good when it's just the 4 of them but it's when they go into larger groups(which they're gonna have to do unfortunately)is where the issues still exist.
Let me know when they have more than 4-6 people present and they actually agree on something other than dates and times, otherwise like Dre said this is a waste of time.
Oh and LMAO @ Melo's comments the other night. Like really dude, it's EASY for you to say some crap like that.#RespectTheCultureComment

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
This is pretty much not an NFL deal
There was never a reason to wait til before the last day before cancelling games
I dont see the owners moving from where they were a day ago all of a sudden just because the games will be cancelled.. I really think they're demented enough to lose some games...just like players said they saved up for this,so did the owners..actually those guys are still making money on other things, this could very well end up as a tax writeoff for themComment

In the NBA, you have some owners who are losing money and considering contraction and you have players who see a big TV deal coming in the distance and don't want to get screwed by this CBA. Both have legitimate beefs. When that happens deals don't get made until the final minute.
Ken Berger of CBS said this and its so true. If this deal isn't made today, its only because of Hunter's and Stern's egos. The players have already given back enough for the owners to cover the 300 mil in losses last year. They are technically only 80-120 mil apart. If they cancel the first two weeks of the season both sides will lose double that amount.
One last thing: If they cancel the first 2 weeks, you can guarantee that their won't be basketball until January. They won't walk away from a deal today and come back next week and make a deal.Comment

They actually have way more reason to wait until the final day than the NFL. Lets be clear, the NBA actually lost money last year. The NFL didn't. The NFL was lockout was just owners and players fighting over how to split billions and no matter how they split them...both sides were going to do well.

That said, I k now the players dont want to be screwed, but they can't have their cake and eat it too. They enjoyed years of plenty, some of it because of the work done by players who have since been long retired and now in the HOF who never saw the big paydays that scrubs are seeing now
Not only that but alot of lazy, crazy and unthankful players took advantage of it in a myriad of ways, getting contracts then stop playing hard, play hard to get a contract then act like they chill til retirement, and some guys I havent seen play for years, yet still get millions of dollars a normal person can only dream of
I know they've made some sacrifices but at this point, the longer they wait, the worse off it is for them in the end.
I think they could've made a deal long ago though instead of all of the silly media posturing and empty threats when they shouldve just handled business like men.Comment

Yeah the NFL's negotiations reasoning was different altogether

Re: NBA Lockout and Collective Barganing Agreement Discussion
Garnett should take Ray Allen's stance and realized that he has been blessed and honestly can't ask for anything more
I didnt hear what Melo said, what did he say?
Maybe those guys are worried about not getting huge extensions in the future as well, but thats just ridiculous
For all that Spree said and did about money, he backed it up and left and never tried to come backComment

The players are even more absurd than I ever thought they could possibly get with this "Stand United" and "Let Us Play" nonsense.Comment

It's ridiculous, it really is. People want to work and can't because of the economy and here these guys are coming up with these "cute" slogans on Twitter. Really?
If anything can come of these meetings, at the very least both sides should agree to ban KG from any future meetings.Comment
