@WojYahooNBA Y! Sources: As Boston and David West come down to wire on completing deal, Indiana waits to swoop and steal him.

I hope Ainge doesn't overpay just sign to West. He does nothing for the future of the Celtics. Just let him walk away.

If that was the case, he'd be signing an extension in Orlando right now. Plus, the rebuilding mode won't be brief in LA. Unless they can find an above-average PG, their run at titles is pretty much over.

They're essentially attempting to begin the rebuilding process now. It was supposed to center around CP3 and Dwight. Now it seems possible they could be left without either.

If Lakers get Dwight can't wait to hear the sour grapes or collective disbelief by the Laker Haters.

        Either one would be satisfying.

Think Mitch is trying to fill out some roster spots with the TPE's. I like the 3 1sts added into the trade for Howard quite a bit. Would give Magic 3 1sts in a stacked draft.
Dude, what parts would the Lakers have had? Bynum? That wouldn't have been enough for the Magic, so can we just let that go?

Nah not really. No one will be scared of Kobe and D12 alone. Especially with no depth.

Or maybe you didn't watch the playoffs last year.

The plan was to get both Dwight and Paul don't act like we as fans didn't see what was going down

you might get one of them but not both of them and to me that is a win win for the rest of the league

Kobe + Dwight doesn't scare anyone

Kobe + Dwight + Paul scares the hell out of everyone

So stick out your chest but we know not getting Paul is going to hurt you inside

Yea that could be true, unless the rumors Dwight would like to be in LA just to be closer to Hollywood.

I can't agree with the bolded, but A)I have no idea how long you mean by brief, we might have 2 different time spans B)I don't know how successful the new Buss will be even with Mitch.

I wonder what is going on with Nene?

As for the Lakers, you have to figure that another shoe is waiting to fall. They appear to be even better positioned now to make a strong run at Dwight Howard.
For those of you who want to think long term, if the Lakers could snatch Howard, that would mean that New Jersey doesn't get him. And what that means for Deron Williams next summer (or perhaps earlier) is anybody's guess. But without a second star at his side with the Nets, the Dallas-area native might be lured back to the Metroplex.
Clearly, the Mavericks have enough strong assets now that they are players for Williams either via trade or in free agency next summer.

Lol who says they would be alone? maybe for one year, or even 2, but LA has never just gone through a long sucking period, Mitch or whoever would build around them...
Depth was not the main or only reason LA lost to Dallas.

In his desire to keep the All-Star point guard on the roster to maximize the league’s selling price of the team to potential owners, Stern has shot down two deals to send Paul to the Lakers. Now, teams are leery of entering into trade talks for Paul with the Hornets basketball executives, and this could collectively cripple the franchise’s ability to get maximum value for Paul.

You make 28 sound old, it is not that bad of an age, especially for someone who is a jumpshooter.

That trade would never happen, I can only dream.

Will it be as satisfying as Derrick Rose absolutely abusing Derek Fisher and the Lakers on Christmas and realizing what Laker Nation could have had?

Cuban was able to get good player for basically free why would he turn it down?

Not that agree with it being Odom (he's a cry baby) but Odom is a good player he's just a mess mentally right now...but what was Cuban suppose to do if he couldn't get Howard himself and the Lakers came to him and said hey we will give you Odom for that $12 million TE and some junk 1st round pick

Cuban see's this a way to make his team deeper again with long term contract tied into into

Dallas has now added Odom, Carter and a young prospect Branden Wright to their rotation all for nothing...
Generally yes. it's amazing what Cuban can do. But, it's a consideration I'm sure they make. You can't not think about what your rivals are going to do with what you're trading them.
