Depth was not the main or only reason LA lost to Dallas.
Ok after those 2 years, then what? Kobe will be 36?

Sorry, you're not selling me on LA's future.

For those of you who want to think long term, if the Lakers could snatch Howard, that would mean that New Jersey doesn't get him. And what that means for Deron Williams next summer (or perhaps earlier) is anybody's guess. But without a second star at his side with the Nets, the Dallas-area native might be lured back to the Metroplex.
Clearly, the Mavericks have enough strong assets now that they are players for Williams either via trade or in free agency next summer.
      That..... would be wild.

..... The Lakers always get something. If it's just Howard now, they'll get someone to go with him. They don't get Howard, they'll get two other guys. It will always happen.

As a rival league executive told Yahoo! Sports on Saturday night about the possibility of getting involved in the derby for Paul now: “My initial reaction is, ‘Who wants to go through that headache with the NBA playing God?’ You want to do a deal. New Orleans’ front office wants to do a deal. And the third party – the NBA – says you can(t?) do it? Should I call Stern and see if they’re going to waive Patrick Ewing Jr., since he’s only partially guaranteed?"
        From Yahoo report.

The question is, who will that one (or two) be?

If it takes that long to rebuild, who knows? It could take less time to rebuild.

Besides I can't sell you on LA's future when I don't know what our present is.

I just know don't expect me to go Lamar Odom if we don't get CP3+D12+Kobe because untill this week I never even imagined we would get that. So your going to have to get your sour grapes/collective silence elsewhere lol

Kobe + Dwight doesn't scare anyone

Kobe + Dwight + Paul scares the hell out of everyone

So stick out your chest but we know not getting Paul is going to hurt you inside

I don't think I ever mentioned your name, but I know there will be plenty of other Laker fans who will willingly oblige lol

That would ruin the surprise...but if I had to go out on a limb, I'd think that if D12 ends in NJ or Chi, maybe LA could get Blake in some years if Blake realizes he doesn't want to play for Donald Sterling?
Then maybe the second could be some young guy off the radar since some people here think LA is rebuilding soon.

Plenty of potential guys will be available in 2012 and 2013.

I'm sure they'll take two of the Suns targets.

so 1Rose, how can the Bulls get rid of Boozer's contract? or do you like him?
I wouldn't mind his presence on the Bulls if he was more durable and only getting paid like $9 mil...

I really hope Pacers still David West...

Personally I think he would be a lot more effective paired with Dwight. Him and Noah are not compatible because Noah doesn't warrant any attention in the post, pretty much attracting more to Carlos.

As far as the contract situation goes, I'd have to see what the deal would be and who we would get rid of.

We have Bogans coming off the books. If it's Noah/Gibson/Asik and we pick up Hamilton and D12, realistically, if Butler plays well, we could amnesty Korver and free up another 5 million.

I don't know why we are even discussing what Dwight would or wouldn't do. Discussion as it stands should only be about what the Magic will be looking at in regards to value in trading Dwight. What can the teams offer that are digging in. As opposed to debating who may or may not be on a roster in 2 years.

Lakers had offered Lamar Odom to teams with salary cap space, one GM says. "He wanted out and they really wanted to reduce the tax bill."

The Lakers have a lucky horseshoe permanently lodged up their ***. They are coming out ahead one way or another. Drewski's trade idea wouldn't shock me at all.

depth will be especially important this season....Mavs just increased their depth exponentially

cap space flexibility is especially important as well after the new CBA and the Mavs are set up well there also
