Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
I find it hard to believe that the Knicks are looking to acquire any of those players in a trade. We'd being hearing at least something about it. And we've heard nothing. So I take that "blurb" with a grain of salt.
Seems like another over-zealous NY journalist speculating.Comment

The people who said they want a Big 3 in NY were: Chris Paul, Chris Broussard and a bunch of reporters.
Sources said that Chris Paul's camp were the ones who said the Knicks lack assets for a trade.
I wish this would end already.Comment

If they can't imagine a non big 3 plan than I will already right off the Knicks chances of putting a good enough team around Melo and STAT to win a title. If only those players were in the hands of a competent front office...

uh no, I don't think there is ever such a thing as having back up plan come back to bite you. It is called foresight and preparing for alternatives imo.
There is no way to plan what trades you are going to make, or what 2-3 players you are going to spend whatever cap space they have on a year in advance. The plan is to have as much cap space as possible for next summer. Then we'll see what happens. This is just Howard Beck writing stupid things just because he wants to say something. Same **** happened in 2010 media says they are going all in for Lebron and Bosh, that doesn't work out, so they sign STAT and keep flexibility so they can then trade for Melo.Originally posted by Jay BilasThe question isn't whether UConn belongs with the elites, but over the last 20 years, whether the rest of the college basketball elite belongs with UConnComment

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
According to Marc Stein:
Kings source confirms Sacramento has offered four-year deal at midlevel exception ($20 million) to Chuck Hayes and optimistic he’ll accept
Alex Kennedy – 12/07/2011 9:33pm EST
With free agency starting on Friday, players are starting to narrow down their list of potential suitors. Free agents can’t officially sign until 2 p.m. on December 9, but here are the latest notes from around the league:
• Sebastian Telfair is leaning toward signing with the Phoenix Suns, according to sources close to the situation. The Utah Jazz had also expressed interest in Telfair, but it appears he’s heading to Phoenix.
• T.J. Ford is expected to sign with the San Antonio Spurs on Friday, according to a league source. Ford will likely sign for the veteran’s minimum.
• Earl Watson was leaning toward signing with the Atlanta Hawks, but now it appears the Utah Jazz are still in the mix. Watson may decide to re-sign with Utah because they’re willing to offer him a two-year deal.
• Roger Mason Jr. is expected to sign a one-year deal with the Washington Wizards. Mason will likely sign for the veteran’s minimum.Last edited by ProfessaPackMan; 12-07-2011, 10:54 PM.#RespectTheCultureComment

The Knicks have not said they want a Big 3. They said they're saving cap space for 2012 free agency.

But really, who else would they be saving 2012 cap space for? Possibly Andre Miller? Sorry, I just don't think teams try and save large amounts of cap space for average players. Maybe if it was only like 5Million. But the Knicks will have $17 million left. When you intentionally save that much money it is for an All-star or ALL NBA talent. And depending on RFA offers and ETO, 2012 could be loaded..
I do hope i'm wrong and that they just want to add a Bill-ups replacement, get a center (if they don't get one during Free agency this year) and/or some depth.

Re: Official POST-LOCKOUT Player Movement Thread (Trades, FAs, etc)
The Knicks are attempting to acquire either Chris Paul, Dwight Howard or Deron Williams to join the tandem of Carmelo Anthony and Amar'e Stoudemire to create a Big 3 of their own that would rival the Heat.
The odds of acquiring a third maximum salaried player are long and Howard Beck of the New York Times isn't sure the front office has an alternative plan.
"At the moment, it appears to be three-max-players-or-bust," writes Beck. "I don’t get the sense that the Knicks have a Plan B. But they could use that $13 million of cap room next summer in a lot of other ways."
