I have no problem with the deal, since the lakers got smaller, and now if bynum gets hurt their screwed download. The problem with the deal is that the NBA owns the hornets and they just had a lockout saying the league needed competitive balance and the first thing they do is trade CP3 to the lakers!!! are you kidding me?!?!

          Bad deal for LA.
Kobe and Paul are not a good fit; they both operate best with the ball in their hands. Bryant and Howard would have been great, but I don't like Paul on the Lakers.

Are the Lakers acquiring superstars just for the hell of it now?

Exactly. That team isn't a championship contender but it can definitely get you into the playoffs. The Hornets were in a tough spot. Paul wanted to be traded soon, he was picky about where he wanted to go and most teams who wanted to get him were hesitant because there was no guarantee he would sign long term with them.

I don't know, I think that Hornets team is probably going to be better than whatever is left of the Nuggets. They'll sneak in, IMO.

This is such bull****. I guess the plan is to contract the Hornets within the next few years?

Oh, and just LOL at this:

The Los Angeles Lakers have agreed to surrender Pau Gasol and Lamar Odom in a trade for New Orleans Hornets point guard Chris Paul, sources tell ESPN.com's Marc Stein.
Sources close to the process tell Stein that the Houston Rockets remain part of the talks and are trying to complete a deal that would send Gasol in Houston and the Rockets' Luis Scola, Kevin Martin and Goran Dragic to New Orleans along with Odom.
In Paul, the Lakers would be getting an All-Star and U.S. Olympic Team member who has averaged 37.1 minutes, 18.7 points and 9.9 assists per game in his six seasons.
The Lakers agreed to SURRENDER Pau and Odom. Ain't that some ****. Because yeah, it was really that hard of a decision to send two 30+ year old players, including one that apparently grows a vagina when the playoffs roll around, for a future HOF PG (albeit with a shoddy knee, but we all know that will magically heal itself now that dude is in Los Angeles).

Just hilarious. Thanks for wasting our time with that lockout, NBA.

EDIT: Also, I bet an infinite amount of fake internet money that Phil is back behind the bench before this season ends.

Kobe doesn't operate efficiently with the ball in his hands. Let work off the ball, crash through D12 screens, and have Chris Paul working the magic with the ball. Will let Kobe get free from those same screens, and have a guy who can actually get him the ball and/or score on his own play making. + it lets Kobe get into post position as opposed to having to try and iso through someone, or take a ridiculous turn around, or have to try and fight while handling the ball to get into the post.

When a superstar not named Chris Paul or Dwight Howard is moved, I'll claim this CBA fight was for nothing.

Once again, the NBA gave up on helping the Magic and Hornets. They want Love, Rose and other younger superstars to stay in their towns.

I disagree about Kobe being a ball hog, although I'm not arguing he likes to share. But to your point this was why i just wanted Howard, because I didn't want another all star guard or ball handler that Kobe would have to share the ball with yet.

The rest of the Lakers are ****. But, CP3 knows how to get players in their optimal position to score, so who knows?
EXACTLY. Kobe will only be elite for like 2 seasons at best, all though Paul might make him look good for longer if Kobe lets him run the offense.
And Bynum being injury prone is why i hope we trade him for Dwight...don't trust him as the main big man.

AT BEST we might see a team like OKC have one year where they put it all together and win a title, but it will be almost impossible for any team other than LAL/MIA/BOS/NYK to have a sustained run. We went from in the 90's/00's having teams like the Magic, Sonics, Nets, Rockets, and Jazz reach the Finals multiple times to now these superstar players acting as if they're too good for these cities...no idea what changed.
Maybe because Deron Williams, CP3, Dwight, and Chris Bosh barely made it past the semi finals in 6-8 years? I could understand that argument about maybe Dwight, who has been to a Finals and a ECF. But some of those guys you mentioned either:
-Had better help (karl Malone and john stockton had each other)
-experienced more success early ( Hakeem was in the finals his second season and only missed the playoffs once b4 winning it all.)

I really think your sleeping on OKC, the BUlls, Boston, and the Grizzlies. Not winning multiple titles won't make them suck...it would make them like the 90s Jazz or Magic.
Besides the NBA finals have never been like the NFL playoffs it is usually the same 4-6 teams.

They'd be a smaller, less athletic version of the Atlanta Hawks and what have they done? 1st and 2nd round exits every year with no improvement in sight.

                              That lineup scares nobody
